"new"Slider bits on the site.
However i have been a member for a couple of years now and i liked the old style you know where you can see the whole list all on the same page!
i know there is a way to see some of the content that way but it "IS NOT" offered on all scrolling categories in fact MOST of them when you select the type of movie you want to see from action to horror you are taken to an identical page that asks you yet again what type you want "the word here is Redundant" why ask me more than once what type of movie i want to see i already made my selection!
Oh yeah and the little section or link that says "veiw all" most of the selections do not work!.....I.E. they take you back to the exact same page you were just trying to avoid. hey thanks for making my experience that much more frustrating and oh yeah Time consuming

first time i've visited this blog. not sure if this is the right place to comment. I am one that never liked the sliders and find it very irritating that I can't select how *I* would like to see the new releases. It was so much easier before when it was one big list in a group. At least bring back that functionality for those who like it. How hard can that be?

I also just noticed today that there are no longer any star ratings AT ALL beneath the movies. I don't understand that decision at all. The Netflix accumulated customer review stars were so darn accurate in predicting whether a movie was any good. And now they are GONE. The only reviews I have access to are various ones from known reviewers and a few from Netflix community members. I would like to have the overall Netflix community rating again.

Why take away information for your customers? Information should be easy to find and in a format that is preferred by your customers not by some 'focus group.'

I'm sad Netflix is becoming LESS useful for me over time, rather than more useful.

You seem to think that your shipping problems have been solved. You would never know it from where I sit. Your deliveries to me have been nearly non existent for the last several weeks. I used to tout your service to everyone but unless things improve dramatically that will change.

How about updating the Queue so that the subscriber can divide it into categories. Use tabs that can be labeled by the user such as Comedy, Drama, Hitchcock, 70s Movies, etc. Is that doable?

The new page sucks! It doesn't appear that "NEW RELEASES" has been updated in weeks. I don't care about new releases from three months ago, six months ago or a year ago. Those are not NEW releases. I want to know what has been released in the last week or two.

I've been waiting for "21", and finally did a search and see it is out, it doesn't appear on "NEW RELEASES". How about updating weekly?

I've been a Netflix customer since 2001 and I hate the new interface. I basically no longer use the website because of it. Every genre defaults to alphabetical order. So why did Netflix spend so much energy figuring out what movies I'd like only to put a movie that begins with 'A' and that Netflix guesses I'll give 1 star to on the FIRST PAGE OF THE GENRE? You've basically destroyed the site.

I am here to echo what Mort wrote (8/3/08). Why can't I have the option to still browse for movies that I've rated before? If a movie I've previously loved is now available on Instant Watch, for instance, I can't see that it's available by simply browsing in that genre. It's really annoying. In order to find it, I have to search for the exact title.

I also hate the sliders!

I just signed up about a week ago. So far, it has been extremely frustrating experience. It has been impossible find movies without using another website to browse through movie titles as the only way I can find anything is through "search." Your lack of closed captioning on your "instant movies" means that feature is mostly unuable for those of us with hearing loss. Your website is rather tiresome to use as it is not intended for 800 x 600 resolution which is necessary for some with vision loss. Overall a big disappointment.

I have not been able to view "New Releases" for weeks. all I get is a blank page. Also, I much preferred the "Releasing this Week" venue particularily for finding more current foreign releases. I found that most of the films listed as 'New" have been out in video stores for months !!!

So far I have nothing to complain about in the 4 or 5 YEARS that I have been with NetFlix. I am wondering if it would be too hard to add the "Instant Que to the front page??? It is such a hassle to have to always go back to the regular Q' and then click on "Instant Q"........there is one other thing that would be nice, how about having a suggestion page at the front instead of me taking almost an hour to find out how to add this suggestion? I have no problem with the new look except for taking away the "not interested" button. I'm not going to rate something one star if I haven't seen it just to get rid of it. And as a horror movie buff there are a lot of ones out there that I'm not interested in. It's pretty tedious clicking on the individual movie pages just to mark them not interested. Well said, Anon (6.47am). I love the new sort-by feature too, but why movies we've rated are now being excluded from search results (and not just here) is totally mystifying. Many of my own ratings are based on how I think I remember feeling about a movie 10.. 20 years ago, so I often welcome being reminded about them and re-visiting them (I'm guessing that some 20% of my rentals are repeats), so to have all these half-forgotten gems removed from the roster actually negates one of the main purposes of rating : namely, to be offered as many custom-picked movies as possible, whether we've seen them or not. But then you probably get lots of people yelling "wtf are you showing me movies I've already seen??!!"

Which brings me to ditto #2 : customization. To 'simplify' such a brilliantly input-reactive and fully loaded site to the lowest technological common denominator is like putting a 55 mph speed lock on a Ferrari to protect us from ourselves. By all means default it to 'Gramp Mode' for the majority of perfectly happy putterers, but please let the rest of us ramp up the features to suit our needs and abilities beyond just being able to enable 'Extra movie info' and 'Drag and Drop'. I mean, People, that's just sad!

as far as i am concerned, this is a step in the right direction, but also a step back. making the lists sortable is awesome, but some of the original functionality is gone. please add the option to be able to include added/rated movies. what if i have 500 movies in my queue, and i want to know which one of the action films i'm most likely to like is, so i can move it to the top of my queue? since i can only see movies NOT in my queue, the new sortable lists don't really work that well for me anymore. wold it really be that hard to include an option like before? netflix seems really worried about "confusing" the users, but i think enough people are familiar enough with computers (and basic logic) to be able to figure out what checking a box that says "include rated or added movies" means. why is it that each new (and often cool) implementation also usually means losing some of the original features? build on what you have, don't destroy! just go more customizable. dumb people simply don't have to touch the settings. makes everyone happy.
