This is the first "social network interaction" I've ever done...I don't blog & all the Facebook/MySpace stuff leaves me cold. But I love Netflix Friends and have used it a lot - guess that gets one toe in the water. I stumbled today on your Community stuff and will try to learn to use it (who says old dogs can't learn?) - but my comment is that I would prefer to skip the reviews from people I don't know/don't care about - the thing that comes up on the page at first. Any way to set my preferences so that only my Friends comes up when I click the Community tab?

I would love to be able to "friend" people on netflix who have a high% similarity to me so we can trade movie titles, etc. It should be easy since netflix doesnt show much personal info at all!

I cannot ever play the quiz because the two friends that I have both have the same first name. So I never know who the quiz is talking about. Surely I am not the only person who has this problem. The simple solution is to add last names to the quiz.

FIRST STEP WOULD LET ME CHECK MY MS OUTLOOK CONTACTS AGAINST CURRENT (AND FORMER) NETFLIX MEMBERS TO SEE WHICH OF MY CONTACTS ARE ALREADY OR HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN ON NETFLIX AND MIGHT WANT TO BE A FRIEND.

I'D ALSO LIKE TO SEND MEMBER REVIEWS TO FRIENDS I LIKE, SORT OF THE WAY YOU CAN DO WITH MANY NEWS ARTICLES ON THE WEB.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE OPTIONS? PRETTY SIMPLY TO PROGRAM I SUSPECT AND THE INVITE FRIENDS PAGE IS NOT REALLY CLUTTERED AT ALL. GOOD LUCK.

I am a latent Friends user. I would use the feature if I knew which of my friends were Netflix subscribers. But I'm simply not going to chew up valuable time sending out emails to friends who may not be on Netflix.

Please, create a feature (like Facebook) that lets me search my address book email lists for friends who are on Netflix and then I'll invite them to join.

Re : Scrolling Reviews - As someone else pointed out, when we click "read the full review" we really should be taken to THAT review, not just to the movie page to spend 10 minutes searching for it (if it's no longer one of the 3 latest ones); otherwise we might as well just click on the movie that they're writing about. But on the plus side at least it's an incentive keep 'em short and pithy, because who but a friend or relative would be interested enough in our unfinished thought to undertake such a search every time we exceed 200 (or so) characters?!

I'm finding that the 'Community' tab keeps changing to 'Your Friends' and back again, a bit like those holographic cards whose image changes as you tilt them - is this maybe to reflect our own schizophrenia in voting for 'Community' but then bleating that 'Friends' should be the access portal? If so, a round of one hand clapping and drinks for all.

Oh, look! It's August 4th, 2:15pm PDT, and we are back to the tab being labeled "Community" again.

With the repeated reminders that the features must be kept easy to use and simple for even the most basic user, I have to wonder about the constant back-and-forth of the name change.

Since many of us are wondering, could we maybe get some clarification on the name of the "Members' Top Ten Lists" section? The list itself consists of links to twelve other lists, and none of those lists consist of 12 titles - most have more, some have less, but none have ten. I can't for the life of me figure out how the number ten pertains to anything about that section.

Really like the new things happening with the Community/Friends tab. I especially like looking at the top ten lists. For some reason, I'm mesmerized by those. One little thing that would add to the Top Ten lists however would be a "see more" link to see the next page of lists. I realize you can just hit refresh, but a more link could take you to a page full of lists.

I was just taking a look at the new community tab, and I noticed what appeared to be a decent review about a movie I have in my queue. Intrigued, I clicked on the "Read Full Review" link, only to find that the review I was reading wasn't anywhere on the page it took me to. Instead, I was just taken to the "Member Reviews" tab of the movie's page. After glancing over six pages of other reviews I finally gave up on finding the rest of the one I wanted to see.

I have to admit that I never thought this feature would ever be worth anything in the first place, so I was pleasantly surprised when the random feed actually produced something interesting. However, my positive feelings quickly subsided when I realized that my find was nothing more than a tease and a wild goose chase.

Not sure where to address this..but I know that I used to be able to view (easily) what my friends had at home.

Now, if I am even able to find it, I am scrolling through a long list of movies to see a very small 'at home' printed above them.

In the friends area..can't it have a tab for queue, rated/watched/ and at home?

I think that there are too many changes too quickly, it is hard to keep up.

This seems to be the case no matter what you call them about. I don't see this as being the fault of the reps themselves, but rather of those in customer service management.

With two calls to Netflix customer service, I've now been instructed to post my problem here. Mine is specific to Friends. Curently, I have only one friend linked, however, I would like to have more.

Here is the problem: What I see as my queue and what she sees as my queue are completely different. The ranked order of my movies is way off. Her version of my queue shows my top ten as movies which are, in actuality, relegated to my queue's bottom, in the 300's. Also, she has let me know that my movies never change in order. It's as if I never get any of my top movies. Ever. The same movies have been listed for months with no change.

As you might be able to understand, this has made for a very frustrating experience. And, I dare say that if I am experiencing this problem, others are too. You just wouldn't know it unless you compare lists side by side as we did one day on the computer. I logged in to my account and pulled up my queue. She logged in to her account in another window and pulled up her version of my queue as reported by Netflix Friends. The queues are not even similar! Of course, when we did this in reverse, my version of her queue completely matched what it should be. (Did I mention yet how frustrated I was?)

Because of this, I see no point for me to continue using the Friends/ Community part of the website. What Netflix is reporting to be my queue to my one and only friend is absolutely innaccurate. I do like the concept of the feature and would like to add other friends, but really, for what?

I'm another pleasantly surprised skeptic. Having an opinion attached to a movie, whether you agree with it or not, is much more interest-piquing than just a list of recommended movie titles. And the sheer range of them obviously exceeds anything that a software program tailored to our rental and rating histories could come up with - because even I didn't know I'd be interested in some of the movies that I've seen come down the vertical pike. So you can add my mea culpa to the list. There was probably a mass outcry about the wheel too when that was first rolled out.

I'm one of those who said they don't care about reading strangers' reviews, but I have to say, I find the scrolling reviews sort of fascinating. It's as if by scrolling they somehow become newsworthy and important. Probably just a psychological trick, but it's working on me. The top 10 lists on the right are still of no interest. Maybe if they scrolled? (kidding)

mea culpa! we should have known you weren't getting rid of the friends. everything looks great. it is a little crowded but so much so that it's annoying.

i wouldn't chalk the quiz up to guilty pleasure. i'd chalk it up to those school "fill in the bubble" tests. we're all pavlov's dog when it comes to those.
