  2. Jeff, go talk to CBS (current owner of ST:TNG) they're the ones who control what gets on Netflix Instant.

  3. Any chance of an app streaming content on ChromeOS in the near future?

  4. This is definitely good news for Google TV. The ability to search the Netflix library with Google is an obvious way to get users connected to the content quicker.

  5. Love netflix, Have convinced family n friends to get it BUT ... A little dissapointed to see there is no Christmas movies/easy search or top rated christmas movies available.

  6. Can't figure out where to ask this, so hopefully it gets noticed here.

My wife and I have 2 kids and we are constantly going in to our queue to adjust which movie is coming next.

IDEA: Can there be 2 queues or groups?
We have the 2-at-a-time dvd. 1 group would be my wife and i and the other would be for the kids. So when my wife and i send our movie back we get the next big person movie in the queue instead of a kid movie.

If other members have more than 2 at a time...they just assign how many dvds per group.

    thanks.

  8. How come only certain tv shows are on instant queue? What I mean is, There are some FX shows on Instant like nip/tuck but why not other every other FX show like It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia or Sons of Anarchy. I'm just curious why a network would allow a few of their shows to be on Instant but not all of them. I'm eagerly awaiting your response. Thanks.

  9. You guys need to do a better job with holiday movies. Its ridiculous that I put a dozen Christmas movies on my list in November and after getting a few of them I'm getting movie way down on my list (non-Xmas). Either buy more copies of these titles or put them on instant play.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You need to have more Christmas Movies in stock.

  11. When I give a Netflix gift subscription to a friend, I wish I could pre-populate the queue with movies I think she'd like, to make it more of a personal gift.

It has also been read to the right and left, is also the site of the mark that these bracelets were banned in some disciplines such as surfing. The truth and all else, because no federation has banned the wearing of power balance. They simply refused to brand partners

  14. Suggestion list:
    1. Provide email for suggestion list/feedbacks.
    2. A play all episodes/disk button on instant play
    3. How making a new queue for instant play. Put 1 episode of different shows into it so you make your own program schedule. For example, an episode of smallville, supernatural, greatest american hero.
    4. How about a list of shows & who owns the rights so users can bug the companies to get on instant play?
There are so many great ideas out there, wish you could hire someone just to listen them & go over them at your "lets make more money meetings".

Netflix please stop wasting all of your Millions on Tv series, you will be out of business in two years. The networks out there do not like what you are doing . They will take advantage of your content by charging you millions for there Tv series. Netflix you started out being Movies and doc. You should stay that way. Let the new comers pay thoses fees. You are being set up for failure if you continue on this path. I have been with you from the beginning, my frinds have been here with you awhile also. We would have not join if it was Tv series that you showed. We want the Movies, don't care if they are old or new., We want you to be around for a long time Netflix , but you must remain stable for you to be here.If I wanted to watch a Tv series I would wait for the Reruns to start. Don't make things hard for yourself. Some money managers are betting on you to fold because they know that you cannot afford to contiune to pay millions and still be in business. They know that your product is good but they also know that you will be in a bad finacial sitution if you continue on spending your profits on tv series. Stop before its to late. I join to watch movies and doc's not Tv series and so have my family and friends.

  20. Why can't we get multiple instant watch queues so the kids can have a separate one? Please address this issue, it has been mentioned countless times and never once have I read a response about it.

My kids can't watch "R" or "M" content and so they get the queue exclusively while I have to dig around for everything I want. It is really a pain in the you know what. At the very least some rating restrictions based on different logins would allow the 1 queue to be used for multiple people.

I'm beginning to think that you are hoping the inconvenience of a single queue will force customers into paying for multiple accounts when in reality I will be more likely to cancel the service altogether. Please at least let us know if you plan on providing us a solution.

  21. Blah blah blah...we're a streaming company...blah blah blah...DVD tax.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's so disappointing that once again Netflix spits in the face of loyal paying customers. First you jack up the DVD rates (which meant less money to you because I just downgraded my subscription) and now you have obviously significantly slowed down your delivery (which is ANOTHER rate increase actually). Why would anyone who already has cable with On Demand with the exact same shows pay Netflix for the same? Why pay Netflix when I can watch the exact same tv shows on the network websites for FREE and in the same season, just a week later? Why pay Netflix when the percentage of Movies available for streaming are infinitessimal compared to the Netflix library of DVDs? And yet another website reconfiguration, but paying customers not remotely involved in the 'new designed features'. Are there REEEALLY that many people watching movies/tv on their tiny little screened cellphones? Doubtful. And now that the CABLE COMPANIES are moving to restrict bandwidth for streaming, how will this little experiment end up ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's all good that we can search. But, it's very frustrating to search for something and then find out that the shows are not available. We were looking for the tv show Friends. The search results showed us all the seasons but none of them were available. You might as well not show them in the search results.

  24. I think it would be cool to add the ability to have multiple instant queues with different maturity ratings. This way the kids could have their instant queue and the parents could have a different one.

  29. dont know where to ask this question. I requested a certain movie, DO YOU LOVE ME, 2008 release. You advertise it as available thru Netflicks, but can only give me an 'unavailable' date. Why is this so, since it is not a new movie and you list it in your selections?

I can't figure out any other way to contact you people so here it goes- every time I try to play Shinobi: Heart Under Blade and only this title my browser freezes upon starting to buffer and I have to restart my computer otherwise I will get a multiplay error...anybody else get this? anyone know how to contact a human at Netflix without using a phone?(whatever that is)

  31. Doesn't Google TV run on Android? If you can make an app for it, why can't you make one for my phone?

  32. Dear Netflix, you guys are so wonderful I want to have your baby.
I get so mad when I hear people talking bad about you, those entitled and greedy bastards, like deaf people - HELLO, they don't need subtitles, they need ears that work!!! Like THEIR handicap should be everybody else's problem, sheesh!!!
Also people who want to be able to stream on free open source systems, how cheap and ghetto do you have to even be to think that's a real option? Just buy a freaking windows system already, JEEZ! Everybody knows that nothing really works with other operating systems, get over it already!
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for keeping Netflix full of wonderful and diverse content, it is such a tremendous value I can't even imagine living through a single day without your wonderful service!

  33. First off, I just wanna say... THANK YOU SO FLIPPING MUCH!! for having a great anime selection!! Netflix has been my "go to" for many different anime titles. Keep them coming!!!!

Also, I understand there is a process to getting certain content available for Instant Play, but I am just curious if.... by some crazy chance... that the Hellsing Ultimate series would be available for Instant Play in the future. Is there a certain someone to get in contact with concerning Instant Play content?? Like suggestions, inquiries, etc.

Nonetheless, I am verrryy grateful that this service exists! *BIG CHRISTMAS HUGS* for all you Netflix employees, higher-ups, and even users! You have my support!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am absolutely appalled at "NotAShill-Promise" and his/her comment!! Have they not heard of the Americans with Disbilities act which bars discrimination?? Do they think deaf peolle can be magically healed of their dsiability?? even Cochlear Implants can't guarantee that!!

Speaking of which, why have you not updated GoogleTV with the ability to show Subtitles?!?! When will this feature be released 9on GoogleTV and other platforms? Also when will you make Subtitles SEARCHBLE??? & when are you going to speed up the Subtitling process. so far only averaging less than 1.5 titles per day since April!!!

  35. hi Netflix... 1st off... loving watching instantly but not loving :
    1) limited selection of G/PG movies
    2) too many horror films & sexy films on queue (my 10 year old is an excellent reader.)
    3) not enough rating info, especially documentaries (Looking for something interesting, no warning, then the f-bomb...)
    Suggestions-
    1) some kind of option to screen out horror or R-rated or whatever on the queue (we view on the TV)
    2) better ratings on individual selections
    3) hire individuals that help screen or prepare options that are not fresh out of college i.e. parents
    4) prepare a family oriented queue that is not only about cute, animated, Barney -types, etc.
    5) more historical, scientific, etc. documentaries
    6) more series TV for families i.e. comedies

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm thrilled that Netflix is offering more instant movies. What I don't understand is why we can't instantly watch ALL the movies & TV shows that Netflix has available. Please 1) Change this policy to expand the online viewership option so that it matches the "mail-in" disc viewership option & 2) Explain it. Thx.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So,in this time of tightening our belts and looking for ways to spend less you actually have the nerve to RAISE your rates? I for one will be reducing my account accordingly as I wish for everyone reading this. What were you thinking?!?! There are other services out there with lower prices and greater selection. Stop before you go the way of Blockbuster. I for one am considering stopping netflix services an a MONEY SAVER.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Your recommendations section of your website needs to be enhanced. Your revenue is only going to parallel how many movies people have in their queue to watch. I have over 500 which takes hours to do and review. I have rated probably over 2000 and have started to review movies on two blogs as well as lecture on the subject. Customer reviews and the star rating system are insufficient, especially for indie films, one of Netflix's hallmarks in the industry of movie distribution. Would be happy to discuss this further.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sort of sad that you (Netflix) made such a big deal about transfering to streaming and changing our accounts away from DVDs, and so far, less than 50% of the movies I'd like to watch are available in streaming format ... and worse yet, now you suggest we add DVDs to our accounts (which of course we __used to have__ !

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've had an account with netflix for almost 2 years and have been very pleased up until the last 2 months.
Out of the last 4 dvds I've recieved I've had to send three back. The first one arrived with a big crack in it,the second was so scratched it wouldn't play at all,the third was scratched but did play, and now this last one was totally not the dvd I had ordered! Is there some kind of recent problem with quality control? Perhaps this is something that needs to be monitored??? Or are you
    phasing out dvds altogether?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nice interface.

But what happened with the "Gay & Lesbian" category?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the idea of Netflix! We signed up to watch movies instantly and instantly only! Well.....we don't watch them instantly very often because the picture and sound quality is poor. We like actions and the poor picture and sound quality really show up on them. It is so much better when using a DVD. We get them by mail now and are waiting for the instant quality to change. I sure hope you change this soon!

  46. Is there a feasible way to sort your queue, e.g. by Genre or Star Rating? This seems like it'd be super-easy to program and I'd certainly appreciate it. I'm not sure there'd be a downside, unless there's some programming issue outside my realm of knowledge. Thanks!

Also: terrific idea from Anonymous re: the dual queue setup. 12/16/10

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why don't you have a holiday category? Trying to hunt up holiday themed movies is a pain, no matter what the holiday. It is enough of a pain to make me want to go buy the movie instead of using your service.

    ReplyDelete
  48. How come Netflix does not have a holiday section for watch instantly movies this Christmas. Lets hope Netflix takes this good advice and runs with it. I am sitting here looking through drama, comedy, action, documentary. For the Holiday season I want a section called Christmas. Thanks in advance.

  51. i have netflix and as of right now i think it is over rated...i am so disappointed seems like all the movies they ever put on here are really old i mean alot of movies from the early 2000 is not even on here i just do the live through my ps3 and i just dont like it and if something dont give i am getting rid of it...i also think there should be alot of christmas movies on here and maybe even some porn my goodness some of us are adults here and we like to watch other things besides all these kids and teenage shows or movies..so please do something or i am getting rid of it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would like to be able to split my queue into several separate lists. For example, it would be useful to create several different queues each corresponding to a mood, rather than have to hunt through the entire list to find all the comedies. Parents could also use this feature to create a "kids queue" with appropriate family fare and one that could be password protected with anything that might be suitable only for Mom and Dad.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Twice now when posting criticisms of Netflix customer service my posts have been removed (moderated). So you can read them to make sure nobody has a chance to tell the truth but you can't respond to concerns about service? Nice....

You guy's are really beginning to aggravate me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've got an idea.

If you drop 1000 movies from instant watch add a 1000 new movies to take their place. Instead of dropping 1000 titles and adding 15. Where is the new content? My "new" sections ALWAYS look the same.

Multiple instant queues so people with kids can actually use the service.

Read: Multiple instant queues so people with kids can actually use the service.

Again: Multiple instant queues. Are you there Netflix? Hellooooooo....Hellooooo....is there anybody out there?

Tell us why we don't get requested features like multiple instant queues for instance.

Tell us why we don't get new instant content at the same rate or greater than it disappears.

Did I mention multiple instant queues? We need them. We need them like water. I can't have my kids seeing all the "R" and "M" content on their Wii. I don't want to have to dig around for everything since I have to dedicate the queue to just my kids. Come on...it isn't a huge feature. At least explain why you won't give it to us.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I accidentally sent Fallout New Vegas for PS3 instead of 'The Road' back in a Netflix sleeve back on Dec. 10th and they just sent me an email saying that they were unable to find my game. I'm sorry but that is Bullshit. Netflix doesn't even HAVE video games! Obviously someone saw an opportunity and took it. I want my property back and until I receive it I'll be letting everyone I know how horrible the customer service has been in resolving this issue...and right before Christmas too. Shame on you!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Who cares about Google TV?
I would be more impressed if you brought the friends feature back -
at least the Top Ten lists.

    ReplyDelete
  57. How about 3D Blueray rentals. I got a brand new pair of rollerskates I hope Netflix will have a brand new key!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey therodds@gmail.com, that's just one of the useful features Netflix removed awhile back (along with the "friends" feature). Glad to know you think they are making bad decisions, too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'd echo Anonymous -- since Google TV is Android-based, I'm particularly confused about Netflix's inability to provide an Android app. I thought the problem was that Android supposedly wasn't secure enough to satisfy content providers? If it's secure enough in Google TV, why isn't it secure enough in handsets?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Please put more movies that are actually meaning full and not movies with bad acting. Like iron man that was a good choice but thats one we need more. And can you put dvds up faster it seems like you get them later than everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This new interface on the PS3 is horrible. We lose a ton of movies and the categories are cut severely making browsing much less enjoyable. Can we please go back to the original interface with the major genres and subcategories for each.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Can you please let us clear Taste Preferences? (like how we can clear movie ratings or earlier we could clear genre ratings)

Taste Preferences are subjective (one person's opinion).

Take for example, Fargo (1996), it is listed as Drama in Netflix.

But on the poster it says "a thriller by joel and ethan coen"

Therefore if I select Dramas == Never && Thrillers == Often , this movie will slip to the cracks.

    ReplyDelete
  63. The new layout for PS3 before was a lot better than the new update. It totally sucks to be blunt yet immature about it with word choice, but it just does. There's a cap now for movies at 75 when we could view past that. Plus the layout getting flipped from left to right is something that DID NOT NEED TO HAPPEN. Somethings are left the way they are. IT WAS AWESOME BEFORE!!! now, the COMPLETE OPPOSITE!

  65. Can you please explain how you can parental block the TV-14 shows and such. I have pg-13 and less as the limit up it lets TV14 shows (like Prison Break) come through but it doesn't let documentaries like IMax films on the coral reef come through because they have NR as a rating. When do you think the parental control will be improved?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I friggin' love Netflix, no problem at all, and for the price I am getting more than my money's worth. I tell everyone I know how they are missing out by not having Netflix (with an instantly streaming TV of course).

That said, the one and only complaint that I have is this:
where are the CHRISTMAS MOVIES? I mean, you folks do realize that Americans go absolutely batshit crazy over the holidays right? And since the major cable networks like to play things like Indiana Jones and Bad Boys II during the holiday season, it'd be just great if Netflix could hook it up.

    Thanks.

  75. DISAPPEARING BBC SHOWS

We were all set to watch "Good Neighbors" Christmas special yesterday evening and discovered it had vanished!

When will the Goods be coming back? It seems lots of people are upset by the vanishing items from their queues, including various BBC shows.

There really needs to be a warning system--

"Your A and B will expire in X number of days, so watch soon!"

But more than that, there need to be solid, more stable licensing arrangements. You don 't want to end up undercutting the very reasons we love Netflix!

  76. New to Netflix. I like it so far but want to suggest...
    1. offer educational videos - like learning a language (Spanish, French, Italian language instruction)

    2. offer more Spanish TV channel programming.

There is a huge population out there that would like more Spanish programs. Just take a look at America's demographics.

  78. Please tell us what the plan is to restore the category and subcategory features that have been removed. And why would you decrease the number of movies in each category while raising your prices. I don't have a problem with the $1 increase but don't take away features. Put the old search software back please.

  79. Yeah, this sucks. Why the hell do you have something good (old Ps3 layout) and then go and **** it up? Why do that? I'm sick of it! I will not renew my Netflix sub until the Ps3 ap is fixed. I watch all of my netflix on the system and never have watched a movie on my PC or laptop. I use my Ps3 for that and you've taken that away from me.

This sucks worse than a toothless hooker on 5th street. You've got till the12th of January (when my sub is up) to fix it or I'm out. I'll go to Hulu or just use Sony's movie service.

    F you Netflix!

    ReplyDelete
  80. why don't you guys have The Muppet Christmas Carol? You also have no records of this movie even existing? Michael Caine starred in this in 1992 and it shows that he wasn't in it that year at all!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I watch all movies on Netflix now and no longer go to the theater. What would really be nice and helpful is to have a list of "Now In Theaters" so that we can add movies to our "Save Q" as they are being watched in the theaters.....making it less likely to miss a new movie when it is released in the future. I know about the New Releases section, but that has many more movies to go through, most are not so good as the ones relased in the theaters.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Yeah, this sucks. Why the hell do you have something good (old Ps3 layout) and then go and **** it up? Why do that? I'm sick of it! I will not renew my Netflix sub until the Ps3 ap is fixed. 83. I am one day into my free Netflix month (received from Roku box purchase). I have a 55" HD television. Netflix seems pretty cool, except...

    - If a movie can be offered for streaming in HD, it should be offered in HD. You have a lot of great movies that are only offered in SD. Maybe this is fine for watching on a smartphone or an old tv. These look very mediocre on a modern tv.

    - All of your catalog should be available for streaming.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Netflix say, "Embracing innovation that pleases our members"

I don't know where to ask for features but here it goes. I'd love to see a creative commons section, or something of the like. Netflix could possibly host and stream lectures (much like Itunes University) or provide content from high quality sites such as TED.com

I'm a geek and I need my fix.

  86. Still no word from the Netflix crew on the Ps3 layout matter. I've called repeatidly too and they gave me the run around

    "It's Beta"

    "It's subject to change"

"Stream your movies from another device"

These are just some of the responses I was told by the idiots who work there in CC.

Not a one of them could tell me why the layout was so seamless and perfect and user friendly before the update and why it sucks so bad now. None of them had an answer for me.

Why does Netflix think they know what I like better than what I know what I like? How are you gonna sit there and suggest movies to me and still take my money? Don't think so... Fix it or I'm gone.

  89. It is really disgusting to see a company to deny the freedom to choose your own OS. NetFlix is so messy that I just called rep and she could not find a page with the policies telling you that you MUST use Window$/O$ X in order to watch online videos. Now they come with Google TV, which is basically Linux, before was Roku, that is Linux embedded. But all other desktop Linux are not allowed. Simply disgusting!

    ReplyDelete
  90. well it would have been nice to know that the ps3 app was changing for the netflix ahead of time and not twenty f in five phone calls later. the old app was much easier, simplier, and fun to view. I will not keep netflix if the app does not change back whatch out premium channels on direct tv here I come! Netflix sucks!

  91. Just an info question. I noticed in the instant queu that certain movies give an "available until xx/xx/xxxx" and I was wondering why? Does that mean they will rotate back at some point or that they will never be available once they are pulled?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Maybe you would care to explain why you removed the "Expected Availability" column from our queue. It's not like that was even remotely useful in helping us manage our queues. Oh no, totally useless information, right?

    Explain.

  94. This is my first time reading the Netflix blogs.

    Three things:

    1) You guys really need to set up forums. It's obvious that your customers have a lot to say about your service. Almost all of the comments on these posts have nothing to do with the original post.

    2) Netflix really needs to support multiple users. There's a lot of programming that I feel like I can't watch because my kids are also heavy users of the service, and have full access to my "Recently Watched" queue and my "upcoming" queue.

    3) Why are there so many interfaces for Netflix for TV devices? I know of at least three, from various devices in my house: 1) Apple TV, 2) Roku & Wii, 3) Windows Media Center & WD TV Live. Numbers 1 & 2 are the best for set-top boxes, I'd love to see Netflix standardize on one of those two. I use #3 the most, and there's no search feature; I have to go to my computer and add titles to my queue.

    ReplyDelete
  95. BTW, someone suggested that Netflix might be trying to encourage users to get separate accounts for kids as a solution to having multiple users.

That's not a solution because most Netflix apps are not easily switchable between accounts. In addition to getting dedicated accounts, you'd also have to buy separate hardware.

  96. I think you can do a better job of encoding these movies... what is the point of watching movies on a nice big new TV with such crappy quality??
I don't know how much longer I can put up with this.
Yeah buying a DVD is more expensive but I am not constantly distracted by the grainy, blotchy screen...

I hope someone actually reads these things and acts on them.

  97. I have been using Netflix in Canada since September 23, 2010. Your content has definitely improved over the last few month's although I would like to see Star Trek and Star Wars, as part of your lineup. If I could have one improvement on how the movies/television series are listed on Netflix I would like to have the date shown off when the movie/television series was added to the Netflix library. Along with the ability to sort from newest to oldest.

But overall, I would like to congratulate you and your team on a job well done!

  100. Like others on this blog, FB etc, I'd prefer to be able to provide feedback easily from netflix.com. Why make us find your blog, FB page etc if we want to communicate with you? Ease of doing business has been proven to be a good indcator of customer loyalty (stronger than NetPromoter scores etc) so don't make us hunt for ways to tell you what we think! [Stop with the justifications on FB and go add a comment page and a title request page on netflix.com]

  101. The WSJ reports that Bluray sales are up 75% while DVD sales are down 13% this holiday season. Bluray players have been selling for well under $100. Bluray discs last longer with less scratching and would serve your customers (generally more tech-savvy and likely to prefer BD) and the company well. The Blu-ray fee you charge is a bit outdated, don't you think?

  105. I've enjoyed Netflix for over a year now and as I see movies that are soon to be released, i wonder why it takes months to get into my Quech (sp) then I'm told I have a very long wait, long wait, or short wait to have it available to me. Sometmes it's 4 to 6 months before I ever get it shipped to see. I only get two movies a week. I don't know how your system works but i think you need to increase the number of copies you get so people don't have to wait so long.
As I hear of movies that are soon to be released on TV, I like to add them to the bottom list but it looks like I'm limited as to how many I can submit.

  107. So, a vent post...I was downstairs on the XBox 360 watching Super Mario Bros super show with my 5 year old and my 1 year old wanted to watch the Wiggles so I used the 360 for that and we decided to go upstairs to resume watching it on the same Netflix account, but instead of 360 upstairs, we have a Wii with Netflix...here the funny part, so the show we were watching minutes before downstairs on the 360, Mario, isn't on the Wii's readily available Netflix, instead of having the "Play" button meaning it's available for watching streaming, it said DVD Only.

Someone, anyone, please advise me why. Thanks!

  108. We're streaming on our new Sony Bluray player. It takes forever for it to buffer and stops and starts. Then...it froze and when we restarted, it had two solid black lines across the top 1/3 of the screen. This was better when we watched movies with the wii disk. AARRGGHH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Please add more streaming players for Netflix.ca especially the WD Live TV Plus

    ReplyDelete
  110. I think this suggestion should be considered seriously by the Netflix design team... the bright red screen that follows the end of a streaming video should be mostly black, with white letters. Considering all the people who will put on a show to watch to bed, I believe that not only will it help save your screen, but it would also conserve energy on the individual level. Think of all the TV sets in America!

    Long live Netflix. :)

  112. I have had netflix on my ps3 for a couple of days now, and it's really lame. If you like old movies that aren't very good I guess it would be good. You have some of the worst movies I've ever heard of. Here are just a few of the t.v. shows and movies you won't find for streaming; Star Wars series, The Godfather series, Seinfeld, Northern exposure, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Gladiator (Russel Crowe) version, The last two Lord of the Rings movies, True Grit (John Wayne), The Wild Bunch, Batman Begins, Batman Dark Knight, West World, and many more that I wanted, but they don't have it. They just added Predator II though? You see what I mean? LAME! Oh yeah, and if you have a nice big HD t.v. you can expect to hate the picture and the sound quality. I'll try it again in a couple years, but for now, Netflix Streaming just has to many ducks out of row.

  113. You really should refrain from repeating the same titles on subsequent pages... For example, when I pick a movie for instant play and the popup appears to suggest "similar" titles, don't show the same movies that I've already seen in the same login session. Once I've seen a listing and if I choose not to pick it, I won't be changing my mind and pick it two or three or five or ten pages later.

  114. No, Netflix on the ps3 just started sucking about a week ago, man. It was amazing up until they changed the entire layout and took away all your choices.

I feel bad for you, in it that you got in at the wrong time and weren't able to experience how incredible it was before they went and **** with it.

Yes, I'm axing my sub to Netflix all around just because of the PS3 fiasco and will return to it when they put it back together again.

Netflix blows goat nips and porks chickens in the butt on the PS3 now!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Wow... reading some of these posts is amazing... people, if you don't like the service then stop subscribing and whining and find another source of entertainment. Or maybe try to tactfully suggest enhancements or other features that can make the service better. Netflix, or any online service, is not your spouse, child, or abused friend. And if you talk to them like this it's a wonder you have anyone to talk to at all.

    ReplyDelete
  116. So, lemme get this straight... You actually like when you pay for something, it's fine and dandy, you get use to it and then they strip it down and strip your choice and options away from you?

    Are you insane!?

You're probably a living doormat in your day to day life. You probably take all the **** that comes your way with a smile on your face. You telling these dolts there isn't a problem is the problem.

Netflix = Fine before they went and screwed it up last week. If you don't have a PS3 and or ever used the ap with PS3 then you have no business in the conversation as you do not have a consumer voice in the matter.

Now let me go back to my original statement --

FIX IT OR I AM OUT ON JAN 12th!!!!!

I am looking for more international content. My comment is not about Google TV.

As Netflix may be aware, India has several mainstream language movies - 'Kannada' language movies is one of them. I am expecting to see kannada languga emovies and would really appreciate if netflix can respond on what business proposal they would like to see to make this possible.

Thanks much, great fan of Netflix as a user and also as a technical software engineer.

  118. sorry but I have been with netflix for over 3 years and I must say I think I am going to cancel because to get a new movie is next to impossible with netflix, all I ever get is old movies on my DVD list and by the time I do get the new release it has been out for like 2 months. Sorry but blockbuster people get new releases all the time and seems that netflix thinks having instant viewing is all they need to keep customers but they are so wrong. Now they want to go up in price and yet still people must wait for ever to watch a new release. Netflix sorry but your company sucks and lost touch with the reason why people sign up and that is to watch new releases not movies that are 4 years old. Blockbusters here I come had enough of watching old movies on netflix when I pay good money to watch new ones, wake up Netflix

  119. I must say I am very disappointed with the current choice of programs/movies on here. I know that the States version is way different. Is this because of copyright laws or something? 123. I just got Netflix on my PS3 for Christmas, and was really looking forward to it. What a great idea! Oh wait...they don't have hardly anything besides old crap movies? The first 10 movie/t.v shows I tried to watch were only on CD? I feel bad because it was a great gift idea and I was happy to get it, but what's the point if you can't watch the stuff you want to. I see a lot of people are having the same view as me on this. Where is the response from Netflix on this issue. Are they working on it? How come they can't just put all their movies for stream? Is there a law against it? I'm just really wondering why they would make sure, "Driven", one of the worst movies ever is on for stream, but no Avatar, The Godfather, Star Wars, Batman? You think they would start with some good movies. I wanted some old school Tom Hanks last night, but they didn't even have splash. I feel like I got a great new toy for Christmas, but then when I tried to play with it I found out it was broken. Netflix, please comment on these concerns. I would feel better if I at least knew you were addressing the issue.

  124. So I HATE!!! Netflix. I think it is terrible. Was told how wonderful it was. So I gave it a try. Have had instant access for 2 months and have not rent one item. Why because nothing I ever search for is available. So I get it that new releases are not on it, but I have searched for Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, Knocked up, Scarface, and The Hurt Locker. None of them were available. So I figured OK maybe this service just sucks for movies. So I went looking for TV shows. The one show I never watch was Mad Men. Not to my surprise it was not available. Looks Like Netflix and I will be getting divorced! What a Scam!

  134. I apologize in advance as this is not the forum, but Netflix sucks.
I have 3,776 movies rated and I get 14 recommendations.
There is no way to search just on ratings (I've watched 97 of the "top 100").
I just phoned customer support (ha!) and their recommendation was to add a movie I've already seen and rated high, then I'd get 10 others that are similar.
How come when browsing, the movies I've rated or in my queues are included?
What the hell happened to the BellKor's Pragmatic Chaos team's collaborative filtering algorithm?
Ahh, I don't even feel better for venting...

    ReplyDelete
  135. You know what would be great? Netflix could incorporate a "Suggestions for Netflix" into the App where viewers could add titles/genres/etc that they want but can't find on Netflix. If such an app existed, one of our suggestions would be language learning dvd's and a genre (or sub-genre) called "educational.)

    ReplyDelete
  136. This is off the topic of this blog, but the other blogs weren't accepting posts.

My main issue with the instant screening for netflix is that almost every movie that I search to watch is only available on DVD. I've searched for a number of Stephen King movies, and other horror movies and movies like Million Dollar Baby, or Blood and Bone, and they're all only available on DVD. I don't feel that I should have to update my plan in order to watch those movies because in the end I would still have to wait like two days for it to be shipped to my house....by then I won't want to watch it anymore.

Also, I think there should be a filter where movies that we never click to watch get deleted after a certain amount of days, or a week. There are movies that I haven't watched and won't watch that are still on the lists.

I'm not trying to sound ungrateful or like an annoying customer...but I would really like to be able to have the option to watch the movies I want without having to get the DVD.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I don't understand why nexflix doesn't let (what they call) new movies been watch instantly on tv when with 2 dlls more you can get them by mail... Isn't shipping more expensive.. Try vudu the quality it is always hd and better movies to watch..
I'll pay more if you'll let those movies delivered to my device instead of mail them to me

  150. Since I can't find a way to e-mail Netflix directly, I'll post here.

What is up with not being able to get old movies when new movies make them more interesting?

I watched True Grit at the cinema and wanted to catch the old one I hadn't seen in 40 years. No can do. Why?

On the Tron, I had never seen the original and wanted to watch the original in preparation of catching the new one. No can do.

I don't get it. Don't the folks holding these rights want to make money while the getting is good? I'm pretty sure in a week or two I'll be as interested in watching those pics as I have been for the last several decades. No interest in doing.

  152. My comment is similar to Betsy's. Netflix is wonderful, but your search capacity is laughable. Betsy intimates that she tried to search for "Christmas movies." I too have searched the same and only movies with Christmas in the title pop up, not to mention a lot of other non-related movies. I have also tried to simply search "Nazi-Germany" documentaries, and nothing pops up.

Can't you team up with Google to create a better search capacity for Netflix that isn't simply based on movie titles, but rather allows you to search for other key words, ideas, themes, etc. Certainly Netflix would be much better with such a system in place.

    Thank you

My only choice was DVDs in the mail and I can't justify continuing with Netflix if the availability of DVDs is going to be reduced and paying a higher monthly cost for what I can get. So I have to cancel my account. Those of us who live in the country & don't have the benefits of those living in a city get left out in the cold. I guess if there is a newer movie I just have to see, I'll go to a Redbox and rent it for $1.

  173. No need to post bitter complaints about Linux support--just go to Amazon Video On Demand, which supports Linux just fine (I just watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on my Ubuntu machine).

Still, I'd rather spend my money on a Netflix account because they have better selection and better pricing. I like the concept of Netflix and have used gift certificates to get several relatives started on the service.

I'd like to be a customer too. But unless Netflix gets around to supporting Linux, I guess I'll keep giving my money to Amazon.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I noticed that someone posted about wanting movies like True Grit, Batman Dark Knight, Wild Bunch, and Westworld. Amazon has all those.

So maybe it isn't better selection I'm looking for, just Linux support and better pricing ;)

Really, I'd like to use the DVD by mail service too. I realize that streaming represents the future, but if Netflix gives up DVD by mail, then they are going to face a whole lotta competitors who seem to be a bit more on the ball (at least with Linux support) than they are.

  175. 1. How is Netflix planning to face the Amazon's on-demand challenge? They seem to have a good collection, but I don't like their fees structure. I like the Netflix subscription model better.

    2. Please add more content on Instant Watching.

  176. Are there any plans to add more Indian Movies content? Currently the Hindi movies come from the UTV stable, and the selection of Tamil and Telugu movies are very limited. Do you have plans to expand on these content? Thanks.

  177. …not sure where to put these.

Netflix just changed the layout of my ps3 netflix app. Unfortunately for me, my tv eats the edges a few hundred or so pixels. Now the I can't see the entire vertical row from the letter A down when I search for a movie and content info is cut off. It looks nice but doesn't function for me. why would they change it with out even asking. grrrr.

  178. Netflix is getting too expensive & doesn't offer personalized help. I downgraded from 8 dvds at a time to 2 dvds & may discontinue using netflix in the near future. I would watch streaming on my tv if netflix would help me out w/how to set it up. Don't have internet at home. But do have Verizon wireless on my Droid 2 phone. So, how can I use the WiFi on my Droid to stream netflix on my TV?????

  181. Is there any chance to put a new genre on here? Westerns are a BIG group of movies, but there is no way to search them specifically that I can find. Someone tell me something.

  182. Please come up with a better term for adding DVD's than "upgrading"!! If I threw out my DVD player and put in a VCR would I be "upgrading?" Watching instantly IS the future and having to go back to ordering DVD's is in absolutely NO way a forward step.

  184. Why are so many more movies on long wait
than there were just a few months ago? -
maybe Netflix should spend less time worrying about stupid stuff like google TV
and more time worrying about what made them a great business -
    delivering movies.

  185. 1)Is there any other place where we can make suggestions or requests?
2)I'd like to see EPITAFIOS season 2
3)Can we get the Bewitched series on instant play?

  186. Okay I don't know where to post this, but it would be really cool to have a feature like Pandora Radio where I can "gift" a movie to a friend. My whole family has netflix and we're spread across the country I am frequently suggesting a movie to my sister in law then they have to go search fo rit and then stream it etc etc. It would be so much easier to have it pop up on their TV Sister Suggestions, Mom Suggestions etc etc.

  187. What is the point of the Comedy category for instant watching? It has been the same movies for the past four months.. and the stand up section is just sad.
