  3. I'm loving Netflix on the Wii. I think it's great that you can have it on the Wii at not additional cost (outside of your $8.99 Netflix subscription). In order to stream Netflix on the x-box, you have to have an x-box live membership in addition to the Netflix subscription. I plan to post a full review of the service on my blog:

  4. I've been using mine for a few weeks now and it works great! The only problem is the frames never show up for fast forward and rewind, only black boxes. Will this be fixed in a newer version?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Been using ares for about two weeks. Our frames show up fine in the fast forward.

As for the first thing we watched... Mythbusters.

  6. Been using ours for a few weeks and love it! Streaming pilates routines on the big screen is awesome.

  7. What does it mean if your status to receive a disk is "pending"? How soon should we get ours?

    ReplyDelete
  8. The first movie(s) I will watch are probably the "Bookdock Saints" movies - since Netflix can't seem to GET IT TO ME ON DVD!!!!!!!

It's been showing "Very long wait" and "Long wait" for quite some time... Irritating.

  9. It's about time. I was rather peeved to hear that people who requested the disc weeks after I did received one first!

  10. Nicely done!

This convenience might just convince me to come back to NetFlix!

  11. As I have a spouse who is hard-of-hearing, the sooner your "Watch Instantly" offerings can include subtitles, the better! Please make this happen soon...young people, old people, people who can't understand English accents, people who can't hear low talkers (as in Guy Ritchie movies), people who listen to their iPod (registered trademark) too loud will ALL thank you! Thank you!!!

  12. I don't have broadband but DSL wireless. Will it still work?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Are all offerings available by Wii? Or the same titles that are available to watch online?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous, mine works great with DSL and a wireless-G router. I have a 6 Mbps connection, so I don't know how well it would work with a slower connection.

FYI, the picture quality seems a bit sharper than the high-quality video on the Wii channel (which I think is pretty good), but it isn't as sharp as the Netflix stream I get on my Roku HD, but that's no surprise.

Bottom line, if you want to stream Netflix on your TV, and the only thing you have is a Wii, you'll love it.

  15. Recovering: It's the same Watch Instantly queue you have on your computer. So, no new releases, but lots of good TV shows and older movies.

  16. Why is there no contact email at Netflix? Netflix's site just runs me around in circles without offering me any way to write them a question via email. This is REALLY inconvenient, as I have a question that will not get answered. I am seriously considering cancelling the account. I don't trust services that won't make it easy for you to contact them. There is something wrong there.
Can someone at least tell me why the button for putting movies in the queue is changed so that it is either instaqueue or play now? How do I add movies to the queue now?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Great I can now stream B release non HD movies on my wii! Awesome! Since Netflix has decided not to acquire timely new rental releases anymore due to their agreements with Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Studios and Warner brothers then this should play them right into irrelevancy. I have been a member since April 2000 but this latest rash of making me wait additional time has me going back to blockbuster more and more often. WTG Netflix.

  18. This is great. I ordered my disk today. Good job Netflix. I also like the feature of the site that tells me how much of a movie I have watched, so I know if I finished or not.

  19. Dear netflix,
I don't own an iphone. I don't own a Wii. I have a blu-ray player that does not stream. I own a great 55" tv. I like to enjoy movies in my living room, theater style.
I don't understand why on earth you are trying to make it harder to enjoy this. I want to watch big movies.. not tiny portable movies. Yet you sign deals to make it an unreasonable wait to rent a physical blu ray disc. And you somehow call this an advantage and a growth.
I doubt you all read this or care, but this is why I cancelled my account last week. I found that your main online competitor had no problems getting me these same movies immediately, for cheaper. By leaving customers like me in the dust in the venture for the latest streaming media for portable gadgets, you've lost a traditional home movie watcher like me.

  20. Instant Viewing is the future. I get it. But for those of us who still watch DVDs, the value of Netflix membership is rapidly decreasing.

You delay DVD releases from 3 studios now, and I assume more will follow.

You're cutting back on your DVD inventory. More DVDs are listed as Long or Very Long Wait.

You're even taking some titles out of distribution. The Saved section of my queue is getting larger and larger.

And worst of all, the turnaround time for DVDs has more than doubled in recent weeks. I used to reliably get a new DVD in 2 days. Now it's more like 5 or 6 days.

If this keeps up, I will have to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. I don't want to do that because I've enjoyed Netflix for several years, but what choice do I have?

What gives? Why are you chasing away your traditional customers?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good job Netflix with the streaming. But... Why are you not getting any movies any more? And why is there such a long wait for new releases? Now that you are the only game in town I guess you don't need to bother with little things like these. Who cares, when Terminator 2 is available instantly...

    ReplyDelete
  22. I received mine couple weeks ago, while I was already watching Netflix movies on my Internet-enabled HD TV.

    The differences are:
    - with the Wii disc, you have full access to Netflix movies database, not just the contents of the "Instant" queue!
    - and the def is only 480p. (limitation of the Wii base)
The question now is, when Nintendo will release an HD Wii base? I hope not a 720p one but 1080p, why not.

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is a suggestion, with all these devices you're allowing, why dont you create "Instant Watching Folders" where you can say:

    - On my Wii only allow streaming of THESE movies I selected. I would love leaving my kids alone with the Wii knowing they'll only stream from the movies I allow them to stream.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Can I see my friends ratings from there?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Finally! We've been waiting for this. Netflix you rock! Now we can cancel our regular cable company.

  26. Nice! I have an xbox but refuse to pay for Live; I'll be using the heck out of this though!

  27. Cross posted from Consumerist:

"we are now shipping instant streaming discs for the Wii to ALL members who want one today!"

This is a lie. I do not have an unlimited plan, and they will not let me have one (a disk). I have a slow internet connection and my Wii's on wireless so I want to try it out with my allotted 2hrs/month streaming before I pay an extra $4/mo for unlimited. (The fastest internet in the county is 1.5mbps, what I have, and I can't afford to wire the house or go powerline yet.) $40 for playon seems like a better deal at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  28. eliminate the disc and have a downloaded version. why waste all those discs or have a disc that downloads to the hard drive then return it so someone else can use the disc

    ReplyDelete
  29. @sean miller... you bring about an interesting question about the requirement of a disc. Piquing my own interest, a google search renders an interesting Q&A w/ joystiq (quickest way to allow users to enjoy streaming content while honoring an exclusivity deal w/ MSFT): http://bit.ly/oj7WT

  34. Remember Friends? Remember when you were able to get DVDs in a much more timely fashion? I'm starting to forget myself...

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't think anyone from Netflix monitors the comments, but, just in case: Don't listen to the haters. The world isn't going to end if someone has to wait an extra few weeks to rent whatever forgettable movie was No. 1 at the box office 3 months ago. Please sign as many deals as necessary to secure the streaming rights to more (and better) movies and TV shows. Thanks!

  36. I've been waiting for this to happen, and I'm so glad that they finally made it work!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I,m from Puerto Rico and when I hear from the union of Netflix and Wii, I was excited!!
But my reality is I can’t sponsor because it would pay the full portion but does not allow me to use Netflix instantly streamed by geographic limitation. No fair!!!!

Geographic Limitation: You may not view a movie through the instant watching functionality anywhere other than within the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Due to licensing restrictions, you may not instantly watch movies outside of this area, including the U.S. territories, and Netflix may use technologies to verify your compliance.

I do however love the my ps3 even though netflix could be better on it high def works great!

Excellent addition to my basic subscription. I have used the Wii to do some other video on the TV and I was never happy. Saw the Wii disc was being offered and so i said, what the heck.
It looks very good. The boys and I have been watching all afternoon and evening now. No hiccups, no glitches, pretty flawless. Picture looks vdery good overall. I am not one of those Hi-Def snobs (sorry guys and gals but thats what you sound like when you whine with statements like "480i ain't gonna cut it").
Nice addition to my cable/satellite-less household. Thanks Netflix!

  45. I'm having several problems streaming one my Wii.

First of all, the compression artifacts are pervasive, leaving the movies I tried to watch nearly unwatchable. The pictures becomes blocky and pixelated every few seconds.

Secondly, my Wii keeps turning off during playback. It's not an electrical issue at my home because all of the other devices on the same circuit are remaining on while the Wii continually turns off. I have never had this problem with my Wii before.

  46. Was so EXCITED about getting Netflix on my Wii. Wanted to start working out but to my horror (not the genre) there was not one workout program on there. What's up with that?!? When are some going to be available? Did I overlook the sports/fitness genre? Didn't see it. Please help!!!!!!!

  50. The WII UI has a hole in it from parental controls.

The normal UI only allows access to movies on the instant Q. The new WII UI allows access to many movie queues including the recent history.

My current method is to use a password to control the movies that can be selected for watching. I set the parent level to PG. The kids only see PG movies on the list in the WII UI. If I want to see an "R" rated movie, I switch it watch the movie and switch it back.

With the hole in the security allowing "R" rated movies in the instant watch activity queue to be viewed even if the parent control is "PG", this prevents any workaround to the situation.

Netflix needs to recognize that the streaming content is shared by adults and children in the same household. I find it frustrating that they cannot recognize that kids live with adults.

The real fix is to allow the owner of the account to delete recent activity, even if its password protected. I have seen complaints in online discussions forums on this for several years.

    Netflix - Just Fix it!!

    or

I will move to Blockbuster or other streaming content providers!!!!

  52. I just watched a movie on my Wii tonight and it was amazing! Great job NetFlix!

    ReplyDelete
  53. This was a totally botched, completely unacceptable solution. Neither the Netflix profile setting for parental ratings nor the parental controls of the Wii allow enforcement of Ratings with the ability to override them...it's "nothing or all" (or what Netflix thinks you want to restrict viewing to).

For the Wii, they should have stuck to Instant Queue ONLY (like a ROKU or LG Networked Blu-Ray player), or had built into the application a parental password feature to enable the categories that are not part of the Instant Queue (including "recently viewed."

Having this "convenience" of other lists of titles other than the Instant Queue is total unacceptable when the only parental control for the Wii is to allow/disallow the internet access. i.e. you can keep your kids from starting the Netflix application, but once it's running they'll have access to whatever Netflix decided to throw into the categories.

Setting ratings on the netflix profile is unworkable since they are inconsistent about Not Rated/Unrated (if I select Family/Unrated, I can't watch A&E or History Channel program that are "NR" even if I have them in my Instant Queue).

I have an Xbox 360 hooked up via HDMI to the same TV and get the same category choices plus HD streaming when available. (Shame on MS for requiring "Gold" membership - they should provide basic instant-queue-only access for Silver member, and then could enable the enhanced categories and hopefully someday a search/browse feature as a Gold benefit...that's another rant for another board, though).

Anyway, the hope was that the Wii would provide my kids a way to watch the Instant Queue on the Family Room's big screen TV...might as well send the Wii streaming disk back now. Pity.

  54. Just had a revelation about the Netflix Wii streaming and no fitness programing. Can Nintendo be that shortsited about not having fitness videos streamed just because of their Wii Fit? Really!!!???? Please allow sports/fitness programming with your Wii streaming!

  56. No other way to comment other than this route -- very disappointed/angry that Netflix does not have NEW releases available at the same time as Blockbuster! We wanted to view The Blind Side for the past two weeks -- this title is a TOP rental at Blockbuster. We thought we would avoid the driving and fighting for a copy by using our Netflix service. Nope. Not available until April 20th. The customer service rep says they will be delaying rental availabilities with very popular titles to save money. Great. I'm spending money to be a member of a club that can't deliver what it has promised via ads and mailers for the past few years. I want my $23.95 back -- from the last 4 years!

    ReplyDelete
  57. WOW! Netflix did an awesome job in getting the best picture quality from a standard def Wii. They even thew in some minor browsing of online titles which my Blue-Ray player doesn't support. Only one complaint - Wish it was possible for more than one instant queue to support multiple people.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Got ours last night and it's incredibly cool. My only comment is that I hope Netflix is able to open some more movies up for instant watching. I can instantly watch both Matrix sequels but not the original?!? Come ON.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I agree with Jimbo.

I've already called customer service and left feedback, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow sub-profiles to stream. I stream on my ps3 - All Ratings - and I want my kids to be able to use their Wii streaming disc for Family/Kids content only (or content that we as parents will allow on an individual basis, perhaps).

This change would be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i use my wii Netflix almost every day. it works great and is really easy to use. i only have one complaint and that is that the Trigger button instantly boots you out of the movie when you press it on accident. it is really annoying to have to reload the movie every time this happens. i think maybe a prompt screen asking you if you want to exit would be better

    ReplyDelete
  61. Got mine yesterday...works great!
I was wondering if there was any way to sensor out the users of this message board who expect Netflix to be the ones responsible for their child watching something they shouldn't be.
The people expecting to get HD quality from a 480 system have unrealistic expectations....and NO, you can't view your friends infor on the Wii...Netflix is phasing it out ...GET OVER IT!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Just so we're clear, Jeffrey, these are not all rants from irresponsible parents. I am a very responsible parent, often said to be strict and over-protective as well. Responsible parents are asking for a feature that will help, not to mention the fact that this feature is always being requested for obvious reasons. If Netflix doesn't want to oblige, my kids just won't use Netflix on Wii. Simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm with some of the earlier commenters - would love to have an installed version that doesn't require the disc, but that's really my only "beef" with it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. all working here. Sure wixh I could copy the disc to the memory card or something instead of having to put the disc in every time. But everything works terrific - much better than the mynetflix plugin for mediaportal.

I'm with everyone else on this issue of not getting DVDs in a reasonable time frame. I understand if I can't get a new release right away, but it would be nice if I could get them in less than 3 months. I scaled my plan down and bought the basic plan at blockbuster to cover the new releases. Also, the comments on the Matrix are right on target. Why can I stream the sequels but not the original?

    ReplyDelete
  65. probably all of the King of the Hill's that just got added. Seasons 1-12! Whoa, Netflix, that's a big time move. And, the Wii stuff works great. So easy.

  66. i got my cd yester day it is great the quality is awesome i think it matches the computer quality you know lol i love being able to now watch unlimited instant movies on my tv at no additional charge!!! AND I WAS GOING TO GO OUT AND BUY A ROKU BOX BUT NOW I DONT HAVE TO

    ReplyDelete
  67. anybody know how much bandwidth you need to stream a movie? I have the Verizon MiFi.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Got the Wii instant watch disc today and I was amazed at the picture quality and complete lack of hassle. The movie doesn't jump or skip, there are no load times, and the library of available titles is impressive. The instant-watch disc for the Wii almost makes up for the absence of jet-packs and flying cars in 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  69. We received our Wii disc last night and watched 2 movies...no problems with set up or activation. Picture quality was good (though we watched an older movie and a television series) but I want to check out a new movie to better assess quality. So far very pleased with this addition.

  70. Netflix should provide the streaming service for Puerto Rico. The island is a US commonwealth and all of its residents are US citizens. The Federal government operates in Puerto Rico like any other state and there shouldn't be any copyright issue regarding the service. Thousands of Puerto Ricans don't subscribe to the service because of this double standard.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Firstly, let me say that I LOVE being able to watch Netflix via my Wii. The kids can actually sit down on the couch and watch their movies without pulling up a chair to the computer desk.

The only problem I've had so far (and it's starting to become VERY irritating) is that the movie/show/etc. will stop every 5-15 minutes and say "Retrieving." It takes an average of five minutes to finish retrieving. At this rate, I'd rather watch movies on my computer without fear of it being interrupted... I know this has nothing to do with my Internet connection, which is pretty fast and has never failed me. Will there be a fix for this soon?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Glad to have Wii as an option, thank you. Dear Customer Service people:

It would be nice to have a menu/search function so we could access all 17,000 movies online, instead of a much smaller pool.

Please make this happen... the longer we use this, the more value total access would have (i.e. we'll keep our subscription longer).

  73. I just received my instant streaming disc in today's mail. Checkout my review here;

  74. While I am very happy with the speed of delivery on my Wii disc and the performance of the service, I do have one recommendation. While having the movies divided into genre is indeed helpful, it would be more helpful if they were listed in alphabetical order within those genres, and/or if there was a search option that would allow me to look up a specific movie or show.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I really, really wish you had remembered to add support for multiple accounts. It is now a major pain because everyone in the house has to share one account. One person loses all sense of privacy, while everyone else loses their ability to have a queue.

Would have really been so hard to add multiple save slots like in a video game?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Just got my disk yesterday. Very happy to finally have this. Picture quality is not excellent, but still very good. Would love to see a Search feature added, as well as an option to watch in widescreen. Overall, very pleased with Netflix for doing this.

  78. If I have to stop watching and wait for it to buffer, then it should have the common courtesy to wait for me to return and when we both are ready, I should be able to instruct it to resume the show.

The stupid thing wants to hold me prisoner while it buffers, and then it starts back up randomly.

One VERY important question, though. Your photo shows a couple kids enjoying Netflix on the Wii, just like my house. How can I limit the titles, categories, etc. that they can access? Right now, it's WIDE open. R and UR movies are at children's fingertips.

Also there is no way you can slow down movies and watch in slow motion, be nice to have that feature too. By the way, I'm a filmmaker and find it very important to see everything of a movie even the behind the scene stuff.

  86. Tried it out yesterday and love it.

I wanted to make a suggestion, so I went to the Contact Us link on the Netflix site, only to find that there is no way to provide feedback to Netflix by their site.

My suggestions / concerns are adding parental controls so that I don't have to lock up the disc and adding a text search feature for the Wii via the Wii's built-in keyboard input or via the use of an external USB Keyboard.

Adding a way to contact you via your Netflix site would be nice too.

  90. Adding another voice to the set seeking parental control. We were excited when we received the DVD yesterday and the installation was a smooth deal! Quality of the movie is quite amazing (and without any hiccups at that). Without parental control, this will get little or no use. The RED disk is safely locked away for now :-(

  91. I'm having the same problem that "Anonymous April 14, 2010 4:04 PM" has--my movie kept interrupting itself with "Retrieving," which took several minutes to complete, and then it continued to do this every five minutes or so. Sorry, that's just not watchable! My kids and wife finally went to bed in total disappointment, while I tried to research and resolve the issue (still to no avail).

I see several people saying they're having no problems at all of this kind. So my question is, "HOW DO I FIX THIS?" :) Thanks in advance.

  92. I can't figure out if there is any way to search for movies from within the Wii app. The only way I can figure out to load a specific movie is to exit out to the Wii home menu, load up the Wii web browser (got it way back when when it was free), go to the Netflix web site, search, add the thing I was looking for to my instant queue, then go back into the Netflix app o view it. A real pain. It'd be nice if you can run a search from right within the app.

Only other workarround I've found is to queue something up on my iPhone (which lacks a Netflix app) then play it in my Wii (which lacks searching). Not optimal.

  93. Netflix is also available for PS3 as well, at no additional charges same idea just order a free disc for your PS3 and make sure you have the unlimited service on Netflix. I would have to say now that I am able to rent disc's and also watch streaming movies on PS3 for $9 a month it's a great value and the quality is exceptional, way to go Netflix!.

  94. The Wii streaming works well, but it leaves a gaping hole. The instant queue viewing rights are tied to the account owner.

My kids use the Wii and I want them to view G or PG movies only. Netflix has spent a lot of time/energy on the Wii streaming, but have delivered something that is useless.

Give families the ability to have multiple instant queues or get a new business model.

I am on the one month trial and I'm finding that there is too much that simply doesn't work to continue my membership.

You guys can do better. If you plan to stay in business, I suggest that you do.

  95. Look. I do NOT have a Wii. Yet every time I try to access Netflix, I'm bombarded with ads telling me how great it is that I can order a Netflix disk for the gaming console I don't own.

The ad on the site has frozen my Chrome browser and your ads for it have monopolized your site and violated my Inbox. It's great that you're expanding your service. I think this is the wave of the future.

But please stop with the ads. They are aggravating the heck out of me.

  104. Adding to the chorus of people asking for multiple account support! We actually got two discs, and were very dismayed to discover upon putting in the second one that the account data is apparently stored in the Wii. I mean, I know the disc is read-only, but I figured each disc would have its own activation code. Both discs load my queue, which was the first activated, and my partner is out of luck.

  105. I love how netflix takes their customers wants and suggestions and makes them happen. Months ago I suggested that it would be great if we could somehow get the movies directly to our TV and look they have gone above and beyond my wildest dreams. Poor Blockbuster they just couldn't compete. But it's their own fault they just couldn't get past the we gotta make more money thing. You see money comes when the product and the service is great, not because somebody forgot to turn in their movie. Netflix I salute you keep being innovative and you'll never lose money. I gotta remember when I have an idea maybe I should act on it instead of thinking it won't work because this type of service crossed my mind more than once in those dark years of having only Hollywood video and Blockbuster to get my flix fix. Again Bravo!!!

  106. On out 42' LCD HDTV TV, Netflix on Wii has been great even though HD offered movies and shows are not shown in HD quality on the Wii! (w/component cable connections) but then again Netflix does not offer allot of there online rentals in HD, but it is slowly growing. I like the ability on the Wii to look for and add movies to our Netflix queue on the spot without having to use the computer, however the shopabilty is more limited - appears to be based on your ratings from other movies you rented and liked. We have had a Roku box for a while now and in comparison, the Roku can deliver 720p HD quality picture(w/HDMI cable) which is better then the Wii but, the Wii's video is as good as our DVD player and even better then the video teasers on Nintendo's Channel video.
All in all I say Netflix for Wii is a great move for Netflix!

  107. Wii Netflix forever "Retrieving". I did a little test. My download speeds for my network as tested on my computer were 2.9 Mbps, yet when I watch Netflix on my Wii, it brings my wireless network to its knees. Tests show 0.5 Mbps while streaming a tv program on the Wii. I can watch 10 min, "Retrieving" or buffering for 5 min, watch another 10 min, it's just not an acceptable experience. When I turn off the Wii, my network is still crawling and it takes several hours to recuperate. I thought it might be high traffic on Netflix server, but my test was early morning. Netflix streaming on computer is lightning fast always and rarely are there interuptions. Netflix support on this topic is non-existant. Any thoughts?

  108. I'm so excited that we can now stream movies to our Wii but, PLEASE add more Children & Family titles to the Watch Instantly menu! While I am happy with the amount of content that is available for adult viewing, the Wii console in our house is connected in the family room and is watched by all so we need more movies that we can watch together.
Thanks for adding the Wii to the list of devices.

Plus after streaming it through the wii the laptop is streaming and buffering slower. Is anyone else having problems like this to occur within the past few days. We have broadband cable internet service. I'm frustrated....any help will be appreciated.

I love having Watch Instantly on my Wii but I've been having problems lately with the device 'disconnecting' from the stream so that when I try to stream from my laptop or computer it will tell me that I'm already taking up the maximum allotted 2 streams at the same time... even though the Wii and all other activated devices on my account are not in use. I want to let my children watch movies on it, but I don't see any way within the Wii or on Netflix to restrict content. Is there any plan to add this feature?

  117. LOVE the Netflix streaming from the Wii! One question...is there a way to request movies? I've looked all over the website and I don't see any way to request that Netflix get a movie that I want to see that is currently not available.

  119. I just contacted customer service about enabling streaming from profiles, even if it's just the ability to add to the queue for use on the devices such as the Wii. The rep said that they are revisiting the decision based on the amount of feedback they've been getting, so do call them and let them know that this is what you want. Be as detailed as you can about why you want it.

  120. I hope they're reading these comments then. Parental Control is a MUST! I would be very satisfied if it could stream from a profile I've created for my kids, limiting them to G rated items (they're still quite young)

Until then, my early adopters will only be able to use this GREAT product when a parent is around.

  125. Many Wii families have young children in the house.

Please add parental controls to the instant viewing queue! I'd prefer if kids can't see the restricted titles/covers at all, nor browse for restricted movies outside of the queue.

Keep it simple..when the kids are not around, I want to be able to lock/unlock the entire session, not per movie. And the control should apply to browsing selections outside of the instant queue.

Also please add Title lables when viewing the movie details.

Otherwise it is working great -- much better than viewing over my computer-- no interruptions in streaming so far...

  144. Northern California was a little slow in releasing the Wii disk. I enjoy the red envelopes, which I can adjust so one arrives a day. Outstanding for shut-ins.

Until the post office moved. Then I was lucky to get three every few months. Streaming was perfect for us B&W Dr Who fans; but it wasn't streamed in Xvid, but encrypted by MS, so I was forced to buy a new OS from them. This illegal ploy is one reason I've considered buying from them unethical since the early 80s. This was not an arbitrary choice, though I shall not sue.

Please moderate this blog in a more timely manner. Malicious SPAM is not trivial, but insidious. Netflix appears to do very good things, then very -- unwise things. I remember being able to send them e-mail!

SUGGESTION 1. At one time, there was discussion about multiple queues a household. Please consider this; it would confuse your 'recommendations' less; and, it would encourage homes to increase their discs out at once and stop fighting over the queue. It's to your benefit!

SUGGESTION 2. When first announced, and recently, quality would be dynamically adjusted with unlisted resources; 300 Mbps TCP/ip being roughly DVD quality.

Could you be more precise for each streaming device? Having been a professional, I see no connection between, say Mbps over the phone and DVD. My Quicksilver has a 100 GB drive: I could, in principle, cache a blu-ray DVD from 1200 bps modem, then decrypt & run it.

To point is, I invested in component (rather than composite) cables from the Wii to HDTV (for it doesn't take digital cables). My currently adequate DSL speed is 150 Mbps (little more), and my WiFi connection is 52 Mbps (maximum). So, should I buy a (proprietary!) USB-ethernet gateway (dongle from Nintendo)? Only then can I increase maximal bandwidth to 300 Mbps. Would this make any difference?

DVD uses 480 pixels, in response to an earlier, anonymous post. Fifty two Mbps should be plenty for DVD quality; and modern graphics cards do amazing things in interpreting VHS quality, compressing whites, expanding shadows, dynamically assigning colors & resolution. Impresses me.

However, could we cautious consumers please have much more on 'quality' before spending money unnecessarily? Thank you!

    Love the British mini-series from the 60s & 70s.

Some people are fussing about having to wait for new titles but I say if you're that friggin interested in the movie, cough up the $$ and go see it in the theatre like the studios apparently want you to. I, for one, don't particularly care that Netflix has signed that delay agreement. There have not been many - if any - movies in theatrers lately that I care to see so I certainly don't give a rat's a** if they are delayed in getting to Netflix.

A friend who has netflix forwarded an offer for a free month of Netflix since we've been thinking about getting Netflix, but it's not very useful as there is no Linux support. :-(

  159. Why is this not compatible with Hughesnet? I live in timbuktoo and need satellite to use my computer and I have Hughesnet. Will it ever be compatible?

  160. I really like this, but how come you can't watch special features on the streaming? Will that eventually become available?

  161. How about separate Instant queues so I can set up a queue for my kids that they can use on the Wii?

  162. Really enjoying this. The kids ask every day to watch Netflix on the Wii. We really, REALLY need a way to configure parental controls so that as parents, we can be responsible and craft what our kids see when we're watching with them, and when we're not.

  164. Hey, what happened to this? As of yesterday I could browse several queues, but now the NetFlix WII UI got trimmed down just to the instant queue? Why? Bring back the old one, it was way comfier.

  166. I like the concept, but am disappointed that the number of movies to watch instantly is limited to older movies. I'm a movie buff, I've seen these movies more times than I care to admit. I want to see more recent released movies instantly than through DVD mailings.

  167. I am living the States and have had a Netflix subscription for years. Unfortunately my wii is European and thanks to the region code on the instant watch DVD I can not enjoy the instant watch on my Wii. Any chance you guys will make a region free DVD available?
