Wow, I'm surprised how many are for iPhone... makes me kind of wish I had one to just fiddle around with them.

Why is there no official app from Netflix for the iPhone or G1? I would prefer an app directly from the source.
I wouldn't expect to see FeedFlix, IIRC the use of "Flix" violates the Apps agreement.

This comment has nothing to do with the current post, I just couldn't find any other way to get a suggestion to netflix.
I wish there was a way that the site would show the member's average ratings for movies, and not their "best guess". Or at least give you the option to switch it somehow. I understand how people rate movies, and I can translate the "average" rating into an idea of what it means for me. I don't understand how Netflix makes it's "best guess" at all, and can't really interpret it. Sometimes it's a good guess, and a lot of times it isn't. So it ends up having less value to me than the average rating.
And on a final point, you need to have some way for people to contact you other than by phone.

My hard work in rating 3,000+ movies has gone in waste.
Netflix: there is a G1 app that's been available for months now. Please include it on this list, which has nothing but iPhone apps and one WM app.
I'd prefer an app from Netflix directly, though, because it is currently impossible to add a movie to your watch now queue on a mobile phone. The site uses a little flash popup box for that, and no phone browsers have flash. So this can't be accomplished using either the browser or the available application
The other day I had to download a new version of the Netflix in browser viewer. Since then the picture quality has suffered greatly. It used to be near DVD quality and now it is fuzzy and choppy. Also, the old player would play through and disable my screensaver, but the new player does not do that so I have to manually disable my screensaver when I watch. Very annoying! Why did the old player go away?!?! This new player stinks. The videos are barely watchable. It is like this on all my computers from an Asus netbook to a $2,500 HP Desktop I just bought a few months ago. Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

actually it's been possible to add movies using your phone for over a year. There's been a WAP version available at mobile.netflix.com
I am always disappointed with the new releases, they are not new releases. I have to go to blockbuster and make a list of the real new releases so that I can add them to my queue. this is ridiculous, please make it better.
@anonymous: I'm sorry, but you didn't read my post. I said that it is "currently impossible to add a movie to your watch now queue on a mobile phone."
I just went to the mobile site, looked for a movie that was available in watch now, and I wasn't given any option to add it to that queue.
Please read more carefully next time.
I hate to post a somewhat off topic question here, but honestly, I've looked EVERYWHERE for the answer (Netflix.com, tons of google searches, etc.) and I'm DESPERATE for an answer to this simple question, so here goes: where does Netflix house the various movie reviews I've done, and how can I find them? I'd like to revisit some of them, and I'm curious to see whether or not or to what extent other members have found them useful. I can't believe the site doesn't provide access to them -- as this seems a real no brainer to me -- and yet it's an utter mystery to me where I can find my own reviews. Any hints would be hugely appreciated. ----- Netflix Fan
@Anonymous 7:45 PM - on the Netflix homepage, hover on the Friends tab, and let the drop down menu drop. Click Friends Home. When you get to the next page, in the right side of the screen, you'll see Reviews & Lists in a purple sidebar. Click that link to view all of your reviews.
Alternately, for people with 100's of reviews, you can go to Feedflix, and you can view them all on one page (Albeit, without Helpful/Not Helpful notations).
Seems pretty cool. Cant wait to get me some apps!

Every Netflix movie page I go to shows the average of all the ratings for that movie. It's located under the picture of the DVD.
Right ABOVE that, but still below the picture, actually RIGHT below the stars, it will show either what YOU rated the film if you've already rated it, OR what Netflix THINKS you'll give it. If you've already rated it, click the CLEAR RATING button, below, then refresh the page. Just make sure you put your rating back when you're done.

@ walt: Except when you are browsing movies, it only shows the stars. You either have to hover over the movie or click through to the movie page to see the average rating. Which is a pain when you are just flipping through and don't want to investigate every movie just to see it's "real" rating.

Put me down for another frustrated Linux user.... can't watch instantly because I don't drink the Microsoft kool-aid {sigh}.
I would love it if someone made an app for Windows Sidebar gadget so I could actually WATCH Netflix while I do some "work". Instead I have to minimize everything to do it. Since Netflix lacks such thing, I've found a Hulu gadget in place of.
So is there any way to actually watch a movie from Netflicks on my iphone?

You are correct. I believe Netflix doesn't show both because it would take too long to generate the page. It is the same reason why there is a limit to your Queue (500) and why on your Friends page, they only display so many of your Friends' recently watched. Otherwise it would take too long to display the page (it already takes a very long time).
Good idea, though.
Also, in response to those that question Netflix' "no e-mail" policy. A couple years ago, 60 Minutes ran an article about Netflix. During the interview with Netflix founder Reed Hastings, they inquired about a telephone number, and even had Reed himself try to find it on the Netflix website. It was quite embarrassing. Shortly thereafter, Netflix switched to the telephone-only policy. The good thing is, however, that telephone support is 24 hours a day, and you rarely have to wait more than a minute or so. Usually they pick up right away.

I'm not sure why it would take very much longer to display those ratings. Since lots of people are drilling down into the movie detail pages, they are already calculating the average ratings. I imagine those probably don't change much within a day, so they probably have them cached already. It's just a couple more things to pull from the database. My pages load pretty much instantaneously, if yours are taking a long time it might have more to do with your internet connection.
And if it does take too long to show both, let me choose which one to show. All it has to be is a simple choice somewhere in the settings.
Because quite frankly, Netflix does a really piss poor job of figuring out what I like. I'd much rather get an average of real people's opinions, rather than some formula that tries, with little success, to predict my preferences.
I agree with the other comments about Linux support. I would love to have Netflix streaming though my Boxee.tv set up on my Ubuntu media center PC. I think it might be time for Netflix to find a new technology partner other than Microsoft so that they can really be the hot app to have. Something that can be everywhere, including Linux and PS3.
The world is changing and targeting just one or two OSes is a thing of the past in the web enabled age. The biggest concern for Netflix would be losing customers if a competitor released such a technology, I know I would switch.
People want their media when and where they want it under the terms that they want it. Just a thought.
How about a feature that will allow Netflix users to "scramble" the movies in their que? Sometimes I'd like to be surprised or I go on a run of movies and pick a bunch in the same genre, so how about a way to easily jumble up the order and breathe a little new life into the old que list?

Why can't we watch instant movies on the iphone? I don't think I'll keep netflicks much longer without that feature. As movies and tv shows get cheaper in itunes, I may drop netflicks and buy/rent them through itunes instead. 2 movies a week is less than my netflicks subscription.
I have to agree with Jesse as I've been looking for a way to suggest this myself but there's no general e-mail support. There needs to be a "scrambler" on queue or a compatible NetFlix app so the genres will be fresher. When a typical customer is browsing NetFlix, they will find a movie, add it, and then find several related movies of the same genre. This results in a very distorted queue genres and it's very time consuming to manually move these discs (I personally have 450 discs in mine). What I ended up doing was: 1-printing the Queue to Microsoft Office Document Image Writer, 2-copy each column to Excel, 3-filtered each genre, 4-color coded each genre,and 5-inserted my new numbers into Net Flix. Very time consuming and I only ended up doing the 1st 100 discs because the page refreshed after each new number. I think you might possibly be able to work with randomizer.org for some help in this.
