hey, the fact that you don't have email or comment box in the help section is enough to make me want to cancel service. all i'm trying to do is notify you that the audio is not working on The Office Season 3 Episode 4 when viewed over Instant. Get a clue and set up email support or you'll loose my business.
At least Catherine Fisher sent a follow-up in response to customer inquiry. Over 1000 people on this blog alone have questioned the blu-ray increase, but neither Jessie Becker nor any other "VP" has cared to issue a response.
Hmmm... I don't know if this is the "real" South Park or not. My friends are the writers & executive producers of South Park, yet they are not given credit anywhere on the Netflix site!

Not only is it a crying shame that Netflix discriminates against writers, but it is indicative of everything that is wrong with corporations and capitalism... the power to abuse the very workers from whom they seek to make all of their profit from. This should absolutely not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Suggestions:
Being able to sort movies on your instant queue in alphabetical order. That would be FANTASTIC!!!
Second, have a New Releases section to browse through that are actually new releases, not just new releases on Netflix. Or at least be able to sort movies by their release year.

i have a mac, and cannot believe it is taking so long to make netflix compatible in order to watch movies instantly. i think i am paying for movies at home AND movies instantly, so why is the latter only available to pc users. what's the deal?

Netflix used to have a feature that allowed users to suggest/request Netflix add certain films to it's collection.

Rachel, Netflix is available on the Mac. You do need an Intel Mac, but it works great. If you have a PowerPC Mac you are out of luck. The streaming technology they use will never be ported to that platform.
I also would like to see a way to email ideas to Netflix. I have to call tech support now and they really don't want to hear my ideas. It would be easier to drop them into an "idea box" so your engineers can read them at their leisure.

it would be really nice if my kid's profile can queue up their own instant queue rather than on mine!.. it really cant be that big of an issue - also - I do not like the fact that my whole real name first & last show up to the community friends area instead of my nickname when i accept new friends - you really need to address & fix this privacy issue right away! not only does it show my real first & last name but my city & state - again, this is a privacy issue - fix it
Ok I'm totally OT here because I'm so frustrated and the poor woman on the phone, who was very nice, can only go on saying the same things over again for so long. I could find no email to write Netflix directly.
My complaint is re: the Watch Instantly service. I use it a LOT, when I'm at work. Today I got a runtime error so I called Netflix tech help. They said they didn't know how to fix the error but that upgrading to Silverlight might do the trick. NO MENTION THAT THERE WOULD BE NO GOING BACK. Well, it works now, but I can't use it because the player only has two sizes - large and full screen. I need half my screen for work. The viewing area does not get smaller if you reduce the window like the old one did.
So effectively, I have lost about 80 per cent of my Watch Instant viewing activity. This was a HUGE part of my usage, and a major reason for my subscription to Netflix. I found free software on CNET that would have fixed the runtime error if I could just have the old player back!!
I have always been a huge fan and promoter of Netflix and had exceptionally good service. I am so extremely disappointed, surprised and frustrated at the absolutely lack of proper handling of this situation (no warning about no opt-out, inability to fix the original error) and the fact that Netflix would accept a product from Microsoft, even in beta, that would not have an option for something so basic as making the player in variable sizes.
Yeah, it's not the end of the world but this will affect my life on a daily basis and has really left a bad taste in my mouth for Netflix.
Showing the ratings would be useful for choosing the right dvds for the kids
Is there a way to find Hispanic-specific content? I'm looking for Hispanic films & television dvds, but they only way I see how to search is foreign by country. Am I missing something?
@ Scott Rose - If you can't tell the "real" South Park from a fake just by watching, them you must be pretty God damned dumb. Besides, wouldn't all your South Park writer and executive producer buddies have their lawyers all over Netflix for streaming SP ripoffs?
Why don't you take your gripes to someone who might be able to do something about them instead of whining all over a blog? Get the writer's union together to start hammering Netflix, work on getting a meeting with someone at the company - you know the kind of stuff that might actually accomplish something!
how about you spend some time at other websites and check out how much you guys suck for charginf people money for this crap! half the crap on watch instantly has crapy quality let alone crapy selections and when you order tv series it doent tell what episodes are on the disc so you have to waist a whole weeks worth of rentals to watch the one episode you want. makes me think about quiting and just sticking to hulu learn to compete before you become GM

This is a call to everyone to please step outside the right vs. left paradigm. While there are important issues worth debating within this paradigm, all of them will be moot if we do not focus on a much greater issue outside this paradigm. Nowadays the media has taught us all very well to ridicule anyone who talks of central banks usurping the power of government. Well now I suppose the media will have to laugh at themselves, as many outlets from Newsweek to the Financial Times of London are openly discussing the creation of a "bank of the world" that will control economic policies of every nation. I invite you to watch this video, which details how this is currently taking place. While it focuses on our current officials' cooperation with these plans, it steps out of the typical political paradigm by highlighting the cooperation of both parties. Please do not look to politicians to protect us. Only we can protect us. And our first step must be to reach out to police and military. Without their cooperation, the global elite won't have the muscle to exercise their will of oppression. Please share this oath-keepers blog with them.
I'm about to cancel my subscription also, I absolutely LOVE the streaming Netflix, but I HATE the selection. Netflix needs to get at the very least current movies available for the streaming option.
PS - The automatic no way to turn off address verification sucks, it keeps changing my address back to an address that does not exist. This in turn prevents me from ordering movies by mail (I've tried, USPS sends it back to Netflix). Why is there no email support? My time is too valuable to spend waiting on hold. An online company with no email support???
I suffered with awful Blockbuster for soooo long. I never leave comments anywhere, but I am soooo happy with Netflix. What a great company. And I never, ever say that anymore.

Dear Faux Blu-Ray Cost Increase Outrage Sheep: There is no need to Netflix to further respond to your faux outrage. They made it abundantly clear in their initial announcement that they currently lack a sufficient volume of BR titles to satisfy the increasing demand. Many of the sheep who posted their faux outrage reiterated this specific point, yet lacked the cognitive powers to grasp the most reasonable solution to this problem: invest in more Blu-Ray copies of titles. These titles cost more, yet only a small minority of Netflix subscribers are interested in them. Rather than continue to ignore their BR subscribers, and avoid burdening non-BR subscribers, letting their BR subscribers decide if BR was worth it was clearly the most equitable decision.
Those that want it will justifiably pay for it, and those that dump BR will reduce demand.
How do you recommend movies be added to Netflix inventory? I have several that are "unkown" and one is the Oscar winner of 1986 best foreign language film "Assault"

I love Netflix, it's awesome. However, the watch instantly could use some major work. Very rarely am I able to watch instantly. Errors seem to come up more often than not. And recently, when I FINALLY can get something to come up the picture is fuzzy. It's great ideally, but it's only frustrating now because it never works.
So I heard that Blockbuster is going downhill and Netflix is taking over so I'm looking into Netflix but I cannot find the answer to my question.
Renting movies is nice and all but what about games? Does Netflix carry games like those on Wii, PS3, etc? Or at least are you considering it? This would be great if you do since that's the only reason why I go to Blockbuster. Please answer. Thanks.

I would really like to see netflix invest in a detailed sort function. In this day and age, it is ironic that the # 1 company in DVD entertainment has such a rudimentary search.
I just spend 45 minutes to try to come up with a movie for the family and friends -- I needed a 2007, 2008 or 2009, comedy, family friendly movie for 10 and above -- unsuccesfuly I might add as it is impossible to see my request with more than one "sort"
please, please consider this and bring the netflix's search ability into the 2000's

Netflix New Release list is complete and utter garbage. It keeps crap movies on it for months and doesn't put many, many of the new (and big) releases that I want to see. What's up with the garbage refresh rate? If I want to jog my memory about movies I wanted to watch I have to either see a commercial for it or take a trip to Blockbuster *gasp*. Please fix this!!

Obviously this isn't the best place to send issues too, but until Netflix brings back e-mail support (phone support is useless), it will have to do.
I've been a netflix member on and off for years. This year we thought we try it out again, surely things just get better, right? Oh, so wrong. The same reason we cancel every time is this: during the trial weeks, everything arrives when it says it's going to. BUT as soon as we start paying for the service, movies always show up 2 days LATER then the e-mail states it will. Even with the added "watch instantly" movies, there is no real reason to keep Netflix if their service is only good during your trial, but never while you actually pay for the service.

Many of us are switching to Ubuntu Linux as an operating system. We can watch movies on You Tube and Hulu but not Netflix.
How about adding Linux to your compatibility for "Instant Watching"?

No where else to post this. But can the site please be updated to allow us to remove items from our account activity. In particular the instant watch activity. One of the great things about Instant Watch is starting something and if you don't like it you can just stop and move on to something else and it's no big deal since you didn't have to wait for the disc to come in the mail. I know I'm not the only one out there that wants the ability to remove items from my activity. Will this ever be addressed?
So I read the Adobe Flash will be used by Netflix. Does this mean that Adobe will replace Silverlight as the application of choice or does it mean that users can pick which one they will use?
i'm not liking this red and blue crap!!!! i got netflix to watch movies that i want to watch! it's like you guys are picking what i should watch on my tv instantly! every time i think of a movie to watch, it's always in freaking red! that means i have to wait for it in the mail. 1 day my butt. more like 3 days! and it's not just new movies. it's old movies too. i'm really thinking of cancelling!

Hey!! Im a BIG anime fan and the watch instant anime list is horrible and it never gets properly updated. Also, most of the anime series are incomplete which is very irritating. Could the powers that be scrap the current anime list and repopulate it with fresh and exciting films for instant watching??!!?? In 4 months ive only noticed about 5 new additions to the list...Awful!!

how about adding a part in the friends section to search for friends who are already members of netflix by searching by their email. and have it search our email database for emails that are already on netflix. and other emails to send out for others to join.
I received an offer from United Mileage Plus to join for a free trial and receive miles. I would have done so, but as I was once a (very, very inactive) member I was told that I could not take advantage of that offer. This is a huge turnoff for me. I would have rejoined, but there is no incentive to do so now.

Totally unrelated, but I couldn't find a user experience post that had comments enabled. I just wanted to say that it would be cool if the watch it now queue didn't ship because if I can watch it now, I don't want it shipped and when I want to watch it now, I want to find it easily.
It seems to me that the "and other shows from Nickelodeon shows" is a phrasing error that makes the sentence incorrect and is being treated as though the readers of the blog mistakingly read something wrong.
It's the sentence that's wrong. It should read:

Why has Netlfix in Baton Rouge, LA gotten so slow in receiving dvd's and mailing new ones. My average time from the day I put a movie into the mail box and the day I receive a new one is between 6-7 days. It used to be only 2-3. I don't want to have to drop down to the 2 dvd's a month for $5, but at this rate I would be getting about the same number of dvd's for $9 a month

What happened to the Watch Instantly "Top 50 Movies" List? Can you bring it back?
Guys I'm loving the new streaming tv shows recently, but i've got to say that there really needs to be a simpler way to switch from one season of a show to another. Often in the similar recommendations category there will be a season missing or something odd like that. It would be great if I didn't have to go back up to the search bar and type in the show, then sift through the results to catch that odd "missing season 3." All in all, very pleased with this though. Keep bringing tv to streaming! It's so much better than sending in for the single dvds of fractured seasons.
Funny, "Hotel for dogs" is out on Netflix this week, but not listed in your new releases. That goes with lots of other New releases you have, yet dont post as a new release. I may have to sign up for blockbuster if this keeps up.
I should not have to look at newspaper adds to find the new releases that I would like to see.
catherine - in case you're interested, i find the netflix ad that appears on my screen when i close my browser [apparently done by "interactive media"] to be annoying.
netflix's brand is better than pop-up ads.

I'm feelin Ryan's post as i am also frustrated with the difficulty for leaving my feedback. I LOVE netflix, but i'd like to suggest Dr. Quinn medicine woman and the wild wild west series for instant viewing.
So why won't you try to fix the shitty silverlight viewer that everyone is complaining about? The old viewer worked fine, it wasn't very smart to switch to something that doesn't work as well. And then to ignore the problem is shitty--not a great way to keep your customers.
How come a lot of the Watch Instantly movies aren't widescreen?! Is there even a place to find out if they are?!
Instead of worrying about South Park how about finding a way to avoid LONG WAIT (sometimes for 6 - 7 weeks or more) for every new release. Netflix is jut not a worthwhile service if 9 out of the 10 movies you want to see remain at Long Wait or Very Long wait for months on end. If people in populated areas such as myself in Queens, NY don't get the same service as other areas we should get a price reduction or an extra movie for our plan price. Furthermore, Netflix should NOT even mention NEW RELEASES in their advertising because it's a downright lie. If something isn't done about this problem people will leave Netflix. More customers might join but they will quickly find out it's not what it's cracked up to be by any means. If you're a fan of oddball movies, it is a good service, otherwise, forget it

When it comes to new releases I just browse the MOVIE section on Yahoo and I add to my QUEUE all the New or Coming Soon Movies that I would like to see.
By the time they come out on DVD I already have them on my QUEUE and it seems that every week I receive new releases like this week I received The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Tuesday and it just came out!
And I agree and EMAIL contact will be nice for suggestions and complaints.
I rarely have problems with INSTANT MOVIES, perhaps because I use the ROKU & not try watching from work? haha

dear Netflix: my name is Dorothy Bucher, and I have Netflix. You are giving me these cards, to try and get my friends and family to join Netflix and get a free month's. Well, you know what? Why should I not quit, right now, and just get a free month myself, when I join up again? What's keeping me from doing that? In other words, you are unfairly giving away a free month's worth of Netflix, and I'm not getting any of that. So, just like cable TV, and Internet service, giving away free gifts to new people, what about us old customers? Why should we not quit, right now, and go join up again, later, just so we can get a free month out of you? How come we're not getting rewarded, for staying with you? So, I like to say, I would like to get a free month myself. , why don't I just quit, and then come back and get a free month, and the new person? Really, this media giveaway is very unfair to us all customers, who are loyal to you. Why don't you start thinking about giving some of us a free month too, for not quitting, and going over to Blockbuster? Please think about it. In the meantime, I will consider whether or not I should just quit, and then go join again later, or go peruse blockbuster. All my friends are already taking Netflix. Those that have money. although you guys have a pretty big selection on streamable movies and shows i cant help but be disappointed at the fact that you don't have many newer movies available and that they are mostly b-movies or old and don't get me wrong i love the older movies but even those you don't have a lot of. why is it that all the older batman movies aren't all available to stream you have batman, now batman returns and batman and robin but what about batman forever? and the list goes on and on. the other day i had gone to walmart and bout a movie on blue ray witch was batman dark knight and it cam with a digital copy....... why cant i stream it? you guys are huge and all other rental places are crapping there pants trying to figure a way of competing with you why cant you ad better movies to instant? i love your service and proly will never end it but please put newer movies on instant and better classics. thanks.
hello, everybody; the instant movie device, software, on Netflix often does not work. The films don't work, and then when I complain about it, they never fix it. I have to go to pirate movie websites, to watch those films. Yes, pirate movie websites! I suggest all of you do that. In the mean time, I'm not paying any more than five dollars a month for the service, because it's not really worth much more.
also, I have this to say to Netflix: most of the time, all you have are old TV episodes. You don't have new movies. I should know, I check all the time. I suggest you start getting some new movies, because Blockbuster video (I had inside information) is going to be putting out a lot more new movies, faster, to the public, as a big PR Project.before that, I had to rely on pirate movie websites to get new movies!

Here's is my first post so I don't know if this is the "write" section for this, but after reading Ashley Dennison's post I thought I would do the same.
I love watching movies instantly (in between DVD mailings) especially TV shows. And I love the button afterwards to play next episode. I would like to be able to return to a movie or show where I left off in the same way that I can return to my closed browser where I left off. That would be Awesome !!!! (If that feature is already available... I don't know how it works)

I happen to like Netflix. I have been a member for quite sometime. As with anything, there are always problems. But I would say that Netflix has better service and a better selection than that of Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. I am a little disappointed to see the "request title" option disappear. I would like to see a better selection of the foreign titles. I have a few Korean title requests:
