Since it appears impossible to actually contact anyone at Netflix to pose a question, let me post one here: I notice the top 5 movies in my cue have either a "short wait" or a "long wait." I also notice that they are all available at Blockbuster in abundance. Can't you guys burn enough CDs to satisfy your customers? Don't you realize that the convenience of Netflix is why we belong, and if we have to drive to the video store to get the movies we want there is no reason to keep our accounts?
I second the complaint made by unionfarm77. I have no DVDs to watch because everything in my queue has a long or very long wait. Ridiculous. And there is no way to email anyone at customer service, which also speaks volumes. I am not a fan of Blockbuster but I have been thinking about looking into their service and any other competitors if it appears that they actually have the DVDs available. Netflix has become a terrible service. Sad, because I used to really like it.
Really? Whining about not having any movies? Try broadening your horizons and add more movies to your queue. There is a max limit of 500, y'know.
Threatening about going to Blockbuster? Then do it. And then whine to them how their service is so much crappier than Netflix, even with in-store returns and rentals as their supposedly added value of membership still doesn't get you the latest releases (especially in blu-ray) on your opinion of a timely basis.
As for customer service, funny how I've never had a problem picking up a phone and getting my question or problem resolved by speaking to someone. Amazing concept, that.
I am still disgruntled that you've taken away our ability to make requests for films Netflix doesn't carry. Or to give suggestions and feedback directly via the website. Your phone customer serviceis great, but I don't want to have to call you up to do this sort of thing.

Today I was sent something from the late teens of my queue. I called to complain and was told to 'deal', I asked to speak to a supervisor, he gave me the run around but referred to it as a 'known problem'. Your call center is OBVIOUSLY aware that people are frustrated that they've had films on wait since last year, so why the hell aren't you doing something about it?
I've had some blu-rays and DVDs on waits as far back as October. (American Gangster anyone?)
Slowly but surely Netflix has turned from something great that I recommend to others to something that is frustrating. I feel cheated, because I pay extra for blu-ray and never get anything that's not years old.
Please reduce your wait times. It's only making YOU look inadequate as a company.
Is there any chance at all that you will ever get the Barber of Siberia? Great film, DVD is available in the US has english subtitles...Please get this film.
darkbamf, it is great that you are satisfied with the poor service but there is no reason for the rest of us to have such low expectations. We are paying customers who have a right to ask that we get what we pay for. The answer is not for us to "broaden our horizons" to watch things we aren't interested in. The solution is for Netflix to provide what it promises when customers sign up. Constantly occurring long waits are unacceptable. As everyone can see, there is a significant portion of the Netflix base that is pissed off about it. It is simply bad business and will rightfully cost Netflix customers.
I know Netflix likes to check their customer service regularly...So, here is a great big FABULOUS for service!!
My daughter and I are absolutely amazed at the speed and turn around time to return and receive movies. Seriously!!
It sometimes seems like we get our new movies the next day after we have just returned movies. Unbelievable! It has become a real laugh for us! We feel like we just put the return movies in the mail and "presto" here are the new movies. Just had to say "Wow."

well netflix sucks to me now because for some reason they put my account on hold now they wont send me any DVD's but i wanted to know why that is its been over a month now since i got DVD's
I love the instant-watch feature, but I'm on the 1-disc plan for movies being mailed to me. Why would you MAIL me a movie that I can watch instantly on my computer?? It's a waste of my time and your money (shipping cost).
@Mary Mckenney, the solution to your situation is simple. Manage your queue! If a movie in your queue is now available on Instant Watch, then remove it from your queue.
Some prefer to receive the DVD than watching it on Instant Watch for reasons like special features & extras on DVD or maybe closed captioning.
Netflix gives you the choice.
I totally agree with Anonymous on why Netflix took out the movie title suggestion ability. I do like that we can call Netflix but for suggesting a title I would rather just do that via the web. Also Netflix still needs to add to its Bollywood collection hence the title suggestion feature came in handy. And Netflix does need to get more copies of some of the popular titles especially Bollywood ones. I have some titles for a month with long wait on there. Please Netflix do something about this.
The new releases thing is out of control. I can understand maybe waiting a few weeks, but a few months is ridiculous. I had to wait over 3 months for Wanted. Not only have I waited 10 weeks for Pineapple Express, but it is still "very ling wait" so it will probably be another 5-10 weeks. I've waited two months for Max Payne and Mirrors. Are you kidding me? Those were both huge box office bombs and can't have that much demand in the DVD market. Vicky Christina Barcelona has been out for 6 weeks, isn't even in the US top 25 rentals, but its listed as "very long wait". Horrible, horrible service.
How does the process for DVDs in waiting work anyway? I have had the same 5-6 movies at the top of my queue for over two months. I go through about 4 a week. With all those returns, how do I not just happen to get one of these long wait DVDs once in a while? Why do I never get a movie util its no longer listed with a wait (except maybe an occassional short wait). Is it the same people getting them every time while others always have to wait? Is it alphabetical? Am I just extremely unlucky?
Besides these external communities, would it be possible to organize "groups" of our friends so that we could shafre suggestions?
Im getting incredibly irritated with netflix. There is no way to contact anyone with a problem it is all just the same crap all over the site. I am trying to activate the streaming to my xbox 360 i am supposed to enter the code at netflix.com/activate. The problem with that is the web page doesn't exist. Apparently who ever dropped the ball on that one is completely brain dead.
@monkeybrain netflix.com/activate is indeed a valid URL that brings up the right page. If you are having trouble with your web browser netflix support might be able to help if you call them.
I am not really sure how you people manage to have a queue filled with long waits. Every now and then I have a short wait on my queue of 100 items, but they usually resolve themselves within a day or two.
I'm not sure where to leave this comment, so I'm appending it to the most recent post. It would be nice if there were a way for users to suggest DVD purchases for Netflix. There are occasionally films available, but that Netflix doesn't carry. These are sometimes major films, such as Nicholas Ray's "Johnny Guitar", starring Joan Crawford.

I have 11 movies in my list. All of them are either long wait or very long wait. What in the world is going on with netflix. Must be ordering 2 copies of all new movies. I've been with them for a few years but am about to give up. I've downgraded to one movie at a time and I guess that's even to much for them to handle anymore.
Why are we able to get older movies right away, but when we order movies like "Australia," which has been in our queue for the past couple of months, then after this movie climbs up to No. 1, we then receive the "long wait" message. The same thing happened to "Rachel getting married." This movie was in our queue for months, climbed to No. 1, then we receive the message "long wait." What's happening? I can get these movies at our local video store, less than a mile away from our house. I will tell our son not to give us this gift subscription next year if this methodology continues.

I have been a Netflix customer for years and 8 of my top 10 are not available. Yet they are not even all new releases.
This morning my #1 said Available Now yet did not ship. Matter of fact none of the 3 I pay for shipped. What crap!
When I call them I get a lame excuse about how many movies they can buy. Take care of your customers before we all jump ship for Blockbuster.
When will the Silverlight issues be fixed. The watch instantly moviews are unwatchable. Major frame skipping. Please fix or please go back to the old player. It worked great.

I am pleased with the service. the mail to home dvds come 1-2 days after I mail back. the instant viewing on xbox live is the best!!!! I DO WISH though that you would get some up to date movies ive already seen most of the 14000 or so with the exception of Karma Sutra I would hate for my kids to that one as a previously watched video!!!!hahah
I agree...it's pathetic that I can't find a telephone number or email anywhere on netflix site to conact anyone. I canceled my membership the first week in March and just got billed for $21 for a movie that we supposedly did not return...but it did not say what movie??? If this is the way Netflix wants to retain clients that would likely return when economic conditions get better, good luck. We'll use a Blockbuster.
How stupid is the Netflix policy on new releases? People who get less movies get priority. So someone like me, who gets 4-5 movies a week and has a normal turnaround of 2-4 days, doesn't get the new releases. Yet, someone who gets a movie and lets it sit at home for a week or two, gets new releases. No wonder it takes so long to get new releases. They could get the new releases out twice as quick if they did it the opposite way.
Netflix only like folks that rent 1 or 2 movies a month. why? Because they like making $7 to $8 for each rental. If you rent more movies, you pay less per movie and they pay more for shipping. Old movies are different, go to Sylverscreen Video, they let you rent all the old movies you want for $12.99. I asked the clerk why not new release? He said simple, availability. Better to have available movies then to sell you a plan with no availability for months. Funny thing, I was their because I got tired of waiting for new release from Netflix. I got 2 new ones and 1 old one for $8.49 for 5 days, I though this is a great deal, because it only cost me .55 cents a day which is cheaper then Redbox. Netflix, you did not just lose a customer, but your practice are unethical, as my friend that just joined got a movie the next day when I’ve been waiting 2 months for it.

I checked out Sylverscreenvideo.com. A place where they actually have new release displayed vs. old movies Netflix promotes on their website an new releases. too bad it's in Sac, an I'm in LA

So great. Somebody finally responds to mucomplaint, more than 24 hours after I given up and canceled my netflix account, and the e-mail they used won't accept replies, so I can't respond to an e-mail with an e-mail. I guess my time is absolutely worthless, since I'm supposed to spend my day on hold waiting to be worth your time, netflix. Thanks for nothing.

I hate Netflix. Seems every where I turn there is a long wait list, unless I want an old movie. It all about the New Releases. I'm still waiting for Saw V and Lakeview Terrance... it reminds me of the old days when I left a cheaper small video store for bigger store, even though it was more expensive, why? because atleast they had the movie in.... this is unexceptable.
Neil, talk to Move Networks *please*, immediately. This is what they have perfected over 6+ years; quit trying to play catchup with rip off technologies (e.g, Silverlight!)
so for all of the new community -- where in god's name do we submit a request for a movie -- cannot find anywhere -- at least before - there was a place to do so.

Watch instant buffer is too low. I have 1.5MB connection and a low netflix connection. The movies come in with 20/40 resolution. Who want to watch a movie that is blurry?? You cannot even read the subtitles. I would rather a message come up and say the connection is too low than have this garbage delivered. And,,, most people are used to HD now. This is worse than a VCR. According to ads my 1.5 should push the content. However, the $99 I spent on the Roku is a waste. Apple has you guys blown away with quality. Apple TV rocks, but thier price points are high. I think increased memory buffers will allow you to compete with them.

Was promised to have 3 DVDs at the time, pay for it. Second week having only i DVD. I have 5 movies in my Queue. Another week or so, I should cancel this service.A lot of people complaining.
