New content to watch instantly

Hi, Brent here with some news about movies & TV episodes that are available to watch instantly. Today we announced an agreement with Starz Play that adds around 1,000 choices that you can watch instantly today, and will add another 1,500 by the end of the year. Movies include “No Country for Old Men”, “Ratatouille,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” “Superbad,” and more. You can see all the newly available choices here.

Recently we also added a lot of new CBS, Disney and NBC TV episodes including of CSI, NCIS, Numbers, Jericho, Hannah Montana and Heroes.

You can watch these online on your PC or your TV via a Netflix ready device. Netflix ready devices include the Netflix Player by Roku, which is available now, the LG BD300 Blu-ray Network player, which will be available in a few days, or the Xbox 360, which will instantly stream movies from Netflix later this fall. And, for all of you Mac users (of which I am one) we’ve been busy working getting a solution that will allow you to watch instantly on your Mac. So hang in there - we’ll have something for you by the end of the year.

Enjoy the new stuff, and let us know what you think.

I appreciate that you are adding so much new content. However, many of these new additions are not in their original aspect ratio. Usually when that happens on TV or on a DVD, there will be a warning that says "This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit this screen." I would appreciate such a warning here. Many of my favorite movies were added in this last batch of new content. But I refuse to watch a pan & scan cropped version.

Soo, if anyone here has found a way to contact Netflix via email, please let me know... I even tried borrowing a Microsoft guy's laptop, and the Netflix add-on crashed his IE Explorer. So, it seems that even if I had paid for the required Microsoft software, it still might not have worked!

Please forward any Netflix costumer support conatact info to:

When NF expanded their online content with the starz group, did anybody else notice that the service got blurrier and slower? I was always rated as a 'good' connection, and could watch any movie or tv show without a pause in playing. Now I can't get through a movie because it pauses every 2-3 minutes. This started at the same time as the starz add. I don't believe it is my SP because my connection is just as fast and I still watch Hulu with no trouble.

Can't wait to see what you offer when instant streaming is available for the Mac. I have my account on hold waiting for this, since I'm so over DVD's. By the time I get a movie in the mail, I've changed my mind about what I want to watch. Will there be HD streaming options like iTunes is doing now?

netflix's original blog about this last year said that they would support all their customers, but now we find out they will only support windows and mac customers, and us linux customers will not be able to watch instantly. oh, well, i guess it's not that big a deal, i've been thinking about dropping netflix in favor of a service that rents games and movies, so i guess this is as good a time as any to make a change.

First of all I just want to say i enjoy netflix watch instantly option. I tend to watch alot of tv episodes during my free time. one of my complaints is that alot of tv shows that have completed there third season have only there first season on the instant viewing. How long do we have to wait to start watching the second or third season without ordering dvd's? anyone have any idea? netflix should include a estimated date when the next season will come available.

When Starz came on board the video quality went out the window. I watch movies and sports on a 10'diag projection screen and prior to Starz the videos were good. Now they are unwatchable on anything bigger than a 14" laptop screen.

WTF? Why bother offering something that isn't worth using?

Shoot, I thought this was done already. Guess it's back to Hulu.

The Starz played movies are suffering from a lack of focus! The text is blurry and the pictures are like watching through vaseline'd glass. Please try to improve the quality!
